I have slightly over 20 years of work experience. During this time, I've done many things, from being a telephonist to becoming an entrepreneur. My intent has always been to improve, learn, and contribute value to the companies I worked for and the customers I served. I have a natural inclination towards control and perfectionism, and while it has often led to frustration, it has also driven me to constantly strive for excellence. One of the things that has always concerned me in my professional life is that feeling of being in a place where I didn’t matter and weren’t going anywhere. Mechanical work within outdated parameters whose origins were unknown even to those enforcing them. Empty and bureaucratic rules that we blindly followed without questioning them, not even for a minute. Now I know that this was the source of my past workplace anxiety. When we do things because we're told to, without understanding the reasoning behind, we set aside the motivation that initially led us to study this or learn that. Today, at One Totem, I finally have the opportunity to do something meaningful. I have the space to learn and explore new techniques and tools to improve the relationship between employees and their company, between the company and its customers, to change the rules of the game—even if only within our limited sphere of influence—striving for a reality where justice and respect guide our professional relationships. All of this matters because making money is not incompatible with being part of a fulfilling work environment. The still very prevalent idea of "optimizing profits" at any cost seems increasingly absurd to me. It's incredible that nowadays, with so much information at our fingertips, some executives still think this path can lead to success. We work better when we feel happy. If we work better, we achieve better results. Better results generate greater value for our clients. Satisfied clients justify our company's existence. That makes us happy.
