I managed the promotion of Macmillan’s services in the East of England, liaising with colleagues across six counties to manage Macmillan’s reputation and deliver engaging stories around service and fundraising campaigns.

Marketing and Communications Lead for East of England

I promote Macmillan services across London, South and East regions. I am the first point of contact for media requests, sourcing and briefing spokespeople where appropriate. I contribute articles to internal and external publications and support the team with larger communications projects. I have successfully planned and managed press campaigns for events within the organisation.

I lead on marketing within my patch, briefing external suppliers to create a variety of print materials for services. I provide copyediting and brand guidance to colleagues, clients and suppliers in order to produce promotional materials that are on-brand, within budget and delivered by deadline.

I also provide general administrative assistance to the team. My key responsibilities include: monitoring press coverage, managing regional social media accounts, sourcing and interviewing case studies, budget management and event support.

Regional Communications Assistant

- Collate, file and analyse press clippings daily
- Manage accounts of the Trust’s external media monitoring services
- Create weekly media coverage report and disseminate to staff and trustees
- On completion of campaigns, create media coverage book with detailed analysis of AVE and circulation figures 
- Answer daily press enquiries via telephone and email, logging actions into relevant databases or fielding where appropriate to another staff member
- Produce image sheets, ensuring all images are captioned, credited and in the correct stock format before sharing with journalists

- Responsible for the efficient dissemination, analysis and filing of press coverage
- Research, produce and distribute press releases to deadline
- Maintain and develop contacts databases, liaising with press via phone, email and during events
- Upload new and imaginative content to a variety of social media platforms using management software such as Hootsuite.
- Establish new connections and build on existing relations with local organisations; creating new ways to link businesses together with competitions and promotions
- Produce ‘Behind the Scenes’ copy for the organisation’s blog

Helping with all aspects of administration, marketing and execution of award-winning Halloween events, ‘Scaresville’ and 'Haloweenies'.
- Office support - taking telephone bookings, creating signage for site.
- Set up and clear up of extensive 'sets' and ‘Unfairground’ area – painting, lifting, maintenance and creative input.

Events Intern

BBC Blast

Worked within a small team to plan, promote and run a three day BBC event in East Anglia. 
- Booked local performers and industry professionals to participate
- Contacted local media platforms to advertise the event
- Researched and targeted busy areas to distribute flyers and liaise with public 
- Visited schools and various youth organisations with ‘Blast Advance Tour’ van. Responsible for guiding students and members of the public to use computer progammes to emulate activities of creative professionals.
- At the event I made up goodie bags, organised a registration process for large groups and even helped film the event.
