I was responsible for supporting a caseload of people who are in supported accommodation facing issues of homelessness, mental health, substance misuse as well as poverty. My main aim is to provide support to get them ready for independence and living in their own accommodation without support.

My role at Winn Solicitors was to take a high volume of calls from clients and third parties. As well as dealing with quiries and complaints, I would support claim handlers with basic administrational tasks from time to time.

Working in a small team, I am responsible for dealing with the queries of our customers via phone, email and live chat service. I am also responsible for liaising between departments to get resolutions as quickly as possible for our customers.

Within the Operations Team, I am responsible for the daily administration such as organising incoming bills by scanning, uploading and filing bills. Additionally, I communicate with energy suppliers to set up our customers packages and resolve and problems.  Working within a start-up company is exciting and challenging, it allows me to present ideas to develop for the future as well as learn ways to improve my own skills and knowledge.

My duty as a personal support worker is to work along side a Probation Support Officer completing tasks of note taking in interviews, typing up interviews on a government software. Meeting and greeting service users. Working along side the admin staff to keep in contact with the PSO's service users for example sending letters to remind them of appointments. Keeping up to date with daily contacts, checking and replying to emails and going on visits to homes and the prisons to meet with service users who cant attend office contact.

Myself and my team joined partnership with Linkbridge Community Centre, where we were able to hold our new Community Navigator service. The service was commissioned for 12 month probation period in which as a team successfully supported over 1000 local people to better access of Health, housing and social care services.

Turning Point

I was part of a connected care, which were members of community researchers (Past and present), Social care Professionals, Third sector organisations and Government members. We would meet up around once per month in London and share our experiences of the work we had done or were doing, and what our work could lead to. Giving MP's and professionals the chance to connect with us to find out what local communities could do in order to improve their health, housing and social care services as well as them give them the opportunity to speak about work which had already been done or they aimed to work towards.

Connected care

I began working in Burnley as a Community Researcher, I was part of a team who would go out into the community to research what the views of local people were about; health, housing and social care services that they received and how could they improve if at all. We then were contracted to do phone call interviews in the Manchester head office. I, along with two other members of my team were selected to visit Clacton and Jaywick in Essex to conduct a similar research project and help out the community researchers which were placed there. We spent three days there interviewing and collecting data. Once the data had been collected in Burnley, myself and my team were supported by Turning point to present our findings to Lancashire County Council and pitch an idea for a new service to be commissioned by them to resolve the issues we had found. We were successful and won the bid.
