This is a new role for me where I will be budgeting and managing multiple types of healthcare consulting engagements, including but not limited to charge master-related projects.
Will serve as a client liaison.

I began my career with MedStar as a Manager of Reimbursement.
In May 2011, I was promoted to Director, Charge Master and Strategic Initiatives.
Current role:
Leading a team of 6-9 managers, analysts, and independent consultants to accurately maintain charge master and service master dictionaries for 10 hospitals (including 7 Maryland acute hospitals, 2 DC acute hospitals, and 1 DC rehab hospital) as well as 2 hospital-based and multiple freestanding ESRD facilities.
*Note: Team migrated 3 acute hospitals and 1 rehab hospital to a corporate standard charge master in less than one year time frame.
Ongoing review of Medicare and other payer program memorandums.
Trouble shooting and resolution for charging and reimbursement issues.
Support of clinical system implementations, utilizing project organization/management skills, to ensure revenue integrity and stability.
Customer service to clinical departments across health care system.
Risk documentation when necessary.
Regulatory research for new programs or questions on existing programs.
Reimbursement Team liaison with Patient Financial Services, Legal/Compliance, Internal Audit, and all other Corporate Departments.
Other projects as assigned by Vice President of Reimbursement, including 340b administrative assistance, Community Benefit report compilation, Process Improvement and Decision Support assistance, global budget dashboard administrative support, etc..

Director, Charge Master and Strategic Initiatives

Billing and reimbursement assistance to hospitals within Maryland, including but not limited to charge master reviews, research of specific billing/reporting/charge capture issues, and claim denial reviews; Attendance and assistance with presentations for educational seminars (HFMA and other organizations); and attendance and documentation of all monthly Maryland Health Services Review Commission meetings.  Reimbursement projects involved extensive meetings with clients, preparation of reports, and implementation assistance.  Charge Master reviews addressed entire process from patient access through claim submission.

Senior Managing Consultant

UM Upper Chesapeake Health

Training and supervision of charge master maintenance function for 2 hospitals and ambulatory care center; coordination of all RVU, CPT, HCPCS, revenue code changes and additions; state/HSCRC monthly/quarterly/annual filings; assistance with Medicare Cost Reports; involvement with all reimbursement issues; technical training assistance.

Manager of Reimbursement

University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center, Inc.

State/HSCRC monthly/quarterly filings; assistance with state annual filing/IAS; calculation of hospital incentive plan; implementation of Materials Management module; Meditech user assistance; financial representative for several departments throughout hospital; participation with non-salary cost reduction programs; technical training attendance.

Gained first-hand knowledge of several different corporations' accounting systems while assisting in audits in the Baltimore metropolitan area; developed skills in systems documentation and testing, as well as compliance and substantive testing work.

I am a very positive person who enjoys new challenges.  I enjoy working with others, learning, and applying new concepts every day.  Throughout my 25+ year career in healthcare, I have enjoyed working on finance, charge master, and reimbursement projects.  I enjoy data analysis as well as technical documentation.  

I have been in management for most of my career and I currently lead many diverse projects with certifications including CPA, CPC, and most recently, FHFMA.

I am very happy and challenged in my current role with Kohler HealthCare Consulting.  I am interested in networking with other professionals in my field.
