A little about my past work experience: Before branching into writing donor appeal letters and emails, I passed the Civil Service exam in the 1990's and worked for 7 years for the federal government. I am fluent in government-speak, am familiar with federal appropriations, and served members of the U.S. Marine Corps in military pay matters, as well as short stints for the Commerce Department and the IRS. In the private sector, I have an additional 15+ years' experience in general office and customer service with public companies in financial services and real estate. I chose to leave the workforce to raise my family in 1998 and returned to work in 2013. During these years I educated my kids first (briefly) in the public school system, then later at home, volunteered with my local church and a local crisis pregnancy center, and also taught myself HTML and eCommerce in its infancy, selling hand tools on Ebay back in its early years.
