I'm the software engineering manager for Channel Marketing, including Riot's game websites, content tools, in-client marketing, in-app marketing, and marketing data. We're a growing team of about 25 producers and engineers serving all of Riot's Global Marketing organizations.

Senior Engineering Manager - Marketing

As part of the marketing group for League of Legends, I managed a small team of engineers and producers focused on marketing technology in game clients. We were the technology team behind the Home section and special events in the League of Legends client. In this role I was an advocate for data-informed marketing decisions and investing in player experience around events and store content.

Engineering Manager - Marketing

I managed several teams as the game data initiative merged with a corporate data team and moved to a central technology business unit. I also influenced and at times formally owned product management and tech strategy for game data engineering across Riot's new games and for League of Legends. I was part of several promotions including both engineering and management roles. Team size ranged from 10 to 25 as my role shifted during the merge.

I was responsible for technology strategy and software development at Recruitics, and I managed the engineering department. My technical focus was big data and data capture. Recruitics was a unique place to work: we built a collaborative, data-driven culture. My biggest responsibility was to ensure that we hired a great engineering team and empowered them to solve meaningful business problems.

My team of seven developers improved the company's ability to collect and process semi-structured data. In January 2015, our system sampled from 13,000 web pages and documents nightly. The project substantially reduced COS and improved the capability of call center analysts. My engineering team leveraged a variety of techniques, such as web scraping, image processing, workflow processes and distributed web services. Specific tools used included MongoDB, ElasicSearch, RabbitMQ, Apache POI, Backbone.js, Twitter Bootstrap, PhantomJS and Java AWT.

I was responsible for back-end software architecture and development on several client-facing projects. The portfolio of projects included LiveSite and Adobe CQ CMS platform customization, Spring IoC / MVC and Solr search engine. I was also the technology lead for Nikon's SSO implementation.

Initially hired as a software engineer working on designing and building reference data systems. My early work at Selerity included layered application architectures, JSON-RPC web services, MySQL and continuous deployment. 

Later promoted to a team lead role leading the software development team responsible for user interfaces. As part of this role, I proposed and ultimately led a transition from Ruby on Rails prototype systems to stable production-quality Java systems. The suite of applications I was responsible for included reference data, real-time notifications, data collection and workflow tools.
