Settlement Officer

Instrumental in leading significant change across various reform periods to ensure quality and continuous service delivery to children in the child protection and out of home care programs. Manager Client Services

I managed the alternative care arrangements approval processes, including reviews of placements and arrangements, tracking and monitoring of the entries and exits into alternative care arrangements. I prepared responses and coordinated the critical analysis, review and revision of requests for, and drafts of, Ministerial and departmental correspondence, briefings and submissions for the Minister, Secretary and Deputy Secretary in relation to non-home based placements. I managed the timely preparation of a range of project-related documents for key stakeholders as required, including status updates, reports, and discussion papers to manage the flow of information. I provided proactive and evidence based expert advice and reports to the Director to ensure matters that impact current business and future decision-making were fully considered.

Manager Communications - Alternative Care Arrangements Team 

Responsible for the management of a multidisciplinary team responsible for entering and handling all applicants and authorised carers from DCJ into the Carers Register and create service providers on ChildStory. Supported Districts to ensure compliance with DCJ policy and NSW Legislation in the authorisation of Foster and Relative/Kinship carers, high level liaison and advice to external (the Office of the Children Guardian) and internal stakeholders (Districts, Office of the Senior Practitioner, Casework Practice and Out of Home Care Initiatives), provision of quality assurance and oversight of complex procedures to ensure compliance and provides strategic advice on complex matters. 
I also provided oversight of all alternate placement arrangements including hotel/motel and special care arrangements and  providing detailed practice and policy advice to the Deputy Secretary and other stakeholders, reviewing child protection practice and identifying systemic issues. I also provided operational input and advice into new policies, procedures and systems for child protection and out of home care.

Principal Project Officer - Office of the Deputy Secretary 

The role included a trial between the Western NSW District and Statewide Services where the position also managed caseworkers from the Mobile Child Protection Unit (MCPU)
I provided supervision, support, guidance and practice leadership to front line caseworkers in both JCPRP and the MCPU. I monitored the performance of caseworkers and matched their skill levels with families where they could make the biggest difference. I interpreted the broader DCJ strategy, direction and goals for caseworkers and ensured that caseworkers understood and adhered to the DCJ Code of Conduct.

Manager Casework - Joint Child Protection Response Program and Mobile Child Protection Unit 

I managed the 'NE Project Team' in the Hunter New England District. The team was created to support the case management of complex families. 
I reported on contentious and complex matters to the District Executive on a regular basis
Ensured that the needs of the children were met through meeting the OOHC Standards and worked closely with NGO partners to achieve best practice outcomes
Supported relationship and ethics based practice to a small team

A/Manager Casework

I conducted child protection assessments in relation to children and young people who are referred as meeting the JCPRP criteria; sexual abuse, serious physical abuse and/or severe neglect. 
Interviewed children and young people using the NSW Investigation Framework 
Worked and share relevant information using a tri-agency approach with our NSW Police and Health partners to achieve the best outcomes for children. 
Participated in joint briefings and debriefings with the Manager Casework and tri-agency partners. 
Developed case plans and interview plans with agency partners. 
Prepare assessment reports and court documents for Children’s Court, Criminal Court and Family Law Court.

Child Protection Caseworker - Joint Child Protection Response Program 

Liaised between DCJ and the Children’s Court
File and serve Court material 
Provided training and mentoring to new caseworkers in relation to Court processes and procedures 
Obtained instructions from Managers for Court mentions and provide feedback on Court outcomes to Manager’s and Caseworkers. Provided feedback to individual units in relation to current trends in the Children’s Court
Updated legal records.

Court Liaison Officer

Followed up of reports made to the Helpline about children and young people at risk of significant harm. Interviewed parents, carers and other people to work out what issues may be going on with families
Assessed and work with families to assess risk factors and strengths of the child’s situation  
Created case plans that involve actions for positive changes for the child and their family so that the family remains together or is reunited in the shortest possible time. Worked with and share information with both government and non-government agencies to protect children and young people and promote their well-being

Child Protection Caseworker

Wesley Mission

Provide case management to children in Out of Home Care. Assess, train and support foster carers
Supervise temporary and permanent foster care placements. In conjunction with foster carers, birth family, DCJ  and relevant stakeholders, facilitate case reviews and develop case plans to provide direction for children in care In line with Wesley Dalmar policy, conduct monthly home visits of foster care placements. Investigate allegations of reportable conduct. Mandated reporting as required by child protection legislation. Maintenance of records and files in accordance with privacy polices and 		
procedures

Supervise contact between children and members of their birth family.
Provide written reports to DCJ on the events and interactions between children and their families  
Ensure that contact is structured, safe and positive for children and their birth families.
Liaise with families, careers, Wesley Dalmar and Community Services to achieve the best outcomes for children and their families.

Family Time Worker

Centacare
