Here's his story: Leon's been building businesses online since childhood as a young entrepreneur in the gaming and publishing industries -- designing and selling products online beginning in 1997. Following his life-long passion for music, at age 16 Leon founded a record label/publisher and online mailorder that was his passion project through high school and college -- helping to ignite the careers of artists like Future Islands, No BS! Brass Band, Girl Talk, and Kesha and acting as a publisher and/or distributor for thousands of zines, records, and other media through his online webstore. At 22 Leon made the transition to lead the sales team and ecommerce efforts at the legendary Hohner company overseeing a family of over a dozen premium musical instrument brands and helping to launch and lead the brands in retailers like Amazon, Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, Best Buy, Costco and others. Following those efforts and their resulting record breaking sales for Hohner's >150 year history, Leon was tapped to lead the company's international ukulele business unit - overseeing every aspect of the world's leading ukulele brand, Lanikai including building a multi-million dollar D2C and category leading Amazon business at age 25. Following Hohner's successful exit to KHS Taiwan, Leon was an early team member at natural foods startup Health Warrior where he drove Amazon and D2C from $0 to the company's top accounts by the time of Pepsi's acquisition in 2018. From there, Leon was tapped to lead Digital & Ecommerce at the mission-driven REBBL leading the company's topline growth through the introduction of a robust ecommerce platform and digital media strategies. In late 2019 Leon founded Daybreak Growth Partners -- an "un-agency" looking to turn upside down the oversaturated and under-performing world of Amazon and D2C growth agencies through a hands-on, scrappy approach to building, launching, and sometimes rebuilding brands small and large across the space. The agency operates with a small team of close collaborators all based in Richmond, VA. and operating on a referral only basis. Leon remains committed to regenerative agriculture, justice and equality for native and at-risk populations, and organic and Non-GMO foods.
