During my time at RMHBC, I oversaw the Family Services department with 3 direct manager reports as well as their 13 direct reports.

Responsibilities of my role and the Family Services team I led included:

Program research and development – exploring innovate ways to support families and identifying resource and partnership opportunities.
• Excellent service delivery 
– ensuring programs are operating in accordance with established policies, and making recommendations in response to changing needs, resources and organizational priorities.
• Program performance and evaluation 
– ensuring best practices are foundational to all services delivered to families, as well as reporting of key performance metrics related to service delivery and operational efficiency.

I was also a member of the senior leadership team, playing a role to build and maintain relationships and partnerships with healthcare and other community partners to enhance the services and resources available to families at RMHBC.

Client- and family-centred care is an approach to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of health care that is grounded in mutually beneficial partnerships among health care providers, clients and families.

I was responsible for developing, sustaining and evaluating partnership opportunities between patients/families who use BCCH and SHHC services and BCCH and SHHC health care teams through the promotion of patient and family centred care.

I developed and implement plans to recruit and engage families in order to obtain feedback on services, support and other planning activities and work with patients and families to plan and determine possible courses of action to improve family centred care practises.

With lived experience, I brought the family lens to the table, working to create positive and meaningful change to improve experiences, developing and leading initiatives for clinicians and staff to help improve client-and family-centred skills.

Variety - The Children's Charity of BC

As the Manager, Grant Program, I was responsible for leading and administering $4M annually in donations for grant programs that supported over 1200 families and 60 Charities annually for programs and services to children who have extra needs throughout B.C.  Overseeing the day-to-day operations, managing granting staff and liaison to volunteer grant committee to fulfill the strategic plan set by the Board of Directors. Highlights included working with Vancouver Park Board and Vancouver Canadians to build the Variety Challenger Baseball field at Hillcrest, developing the Variety Cares Fund working with Social Workers across the province to support emergency needs of families who must to travel outside of their community to access healthcare with basic needs and breast pumps for NICU babies.  Stream lined granting process and identified most in need, developed digital filing, eliminated paper files.

Hope Air

Hope Air is Canada’s only nation-wide charity that provides free flights to Canadians to get the medical treatment they need which they could not otherwise afford due to distance and finances.

In 2014, Hope Air had a tremendous impact, providing a record 7, 085 free flights to financially disadvantaged Canadians to access necessary healthcare who would have otherwise cancelled, postponed or have gone into debt to get the diagnosis, treatment or surgery needed.

Highlights included building relationship with CBAA (Canadian Business Aviation Association) and working with Traininport.net to developed promotional video for Hope Air.

Duties included all aspects of fund development:  prospecting and securing suitable donors and sponsors, stewardship of corporations, foundations and individuals, co-ordination of annual fundraising event, grant and proposal writing, making presentations to funders and prospective funders, working with Board to achieve goals.  Part of small team responsible for raising over $1 million per year.
