The days of optimizing content to dominate search engines are over. Search itself has become autonomous. Your content should aim to be helpful (to AI), not to people. 

A single query now references multiple websites that a user can choose to click into, but doesn't have to. Therefore, the key to winning will be to have a webpage with extensive content that an LLM can reference—lots of words, endless pages, and much lower dedication to UX.

AI search rank trackers are lying to you.

A lot of “AI visibility” companies are making bold promises that sound great in a sales pitch, but they create massive misconceptions about what is actually possible right now.

So let’s separate the facts from the hype.

→ No one has access to real user prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or anywhere else.
 These LLMs do not share prompt data directly.
 The closest you can get is clickstream data.
 And even then, the largest panels only give you a tiny sliver of the actual prompts people are entering.

→ Almost every AI visibility tool is using “synthetic prompts.”
 They generate prompt lists with AI.
 They crawl your site or take a few topics and then guess what customers might be prompting.
 It is not real data.

→ Reliable AI visibility data is extremely hard to capture.
 
Here is why:

 ▪️ Queries vary wildly. Real people do not just type “best blue shoes.” They type long, messy, unique sentences that change results with the smallest wording shift.

 ▪️ Personalization changes everything. ChatGPT and others personalize by default, so outputs differ based on what the model knows about you.
 ▪️ Model variance is real. ChatGPT 3, 4, 4-mini—same query, different answers.
 ▪️ Responses vary each time. The same question can return the same brands, but in a completely different order.

 ▪️ Query fan-out is unpredictable. These internal LLM searches constantly shift, adding another moving part.


The takeaway: AI visibility is still in its earliest days.

The tools have promise, but the data is messy and inconsistent.
 
If you are using one, you need to know its limitations, where the data really comes from, and how to interpret the reports with caution.

The companies who understand this nuance will be the ones who win when the dust settles.

Is anyone else generally disappointed with Chat GPT 5.0?

I feel like 4.0 was an eager employee who got work done, and 5.0 is a lazy employee who stops every step to ask a redundant question.

Ran out of my Agent queries because it kept stopping for approval after completing a short percentage of its task. 

If this is how they intend to upsell me to $200/month. I will likely move on to another model before I do.
