Area Sales Manager

Beck & Pollitzer Engineering Services Ltd

Our core services are machinery installation and machine moving, including the turnkey management of complex industrial projects. 
This can range from single machines moves within an existing site to large scale factory and production lines being moved from one country to another.

My Duties as the Sales Engineer for the Northwest Brach are the following:
 
• Making my own appointments from an existing database of previous customers, with the intention of visiting a customer on site to understand their needs and how our services will be of a benefit to them.
• In depth market research to ascertain which companies are investing, expanding or relocating.   Targeting those businesses to maximise productivity, sales and conversion.
• Producing my own marketing collateral, including off line and on line.  Highlighting case studies from previous business won to highlight the advantages of choosing Beck and Pollitzer as your engineering partner.
• Continual liaison with a customer both face to face and from our office, to understand their ongoing needs ensuring a customer understands all the services we offer therefore maximising their overall spend.  
• An example of this is the development of our Kellogg’s account.  Originally we were asked to tender on one machine move, after considerable time and effort developing an excellent working relationship we eventually became responsible for all their machine removals and relocations, managing international shipping of machines, as well as managing the scrap machinery and values through contract negotiations.
• As part of our service to our clients and customer relationship development I spent time working on site supporting Project Managers dealing with weekly meetings and client liaison, and seeing where we could maximise our services on site.
• Over the course of the last financial year I’ve worked with high profile blue chip customers including Kellogg’s, Bosch, Michelin and ABB resulting in sales in excess of £1.5m.

Sales Engineer

Instruments & Gauges Electronics Ltd

•Office and field based sales organising my own diary from the office to sell Electrical, Mechanical and process instrumentation to companies and organisations in the food & beverage, petrochemical, aerospace, dairy, construction, engineering and pharmaceutical industries.  
•Increasing sales, by working closely with an existing portfolio of clients, reactivating inactive accounts and sourcing new business within my North West territory.
•Developing a close working relationship with existing customers, ensuring regular contact, both over the telephone and whenever possible face to face.
•I would revive inactive accounts by scheduling regular contact, understanding any issues they've had, or a change in their requirements.  By taking the time to understand their individual needs, and taking a personal interest, I was able to reactive many such accounts.
•New business would be developed by investigating which suitable businesses operated in the vicinity of current customers.  I would then call on these businesses, introducing myself and the services offered, as well as leaving them marketing collateral I believed would be appropriate to their business.  During these visits I would collate names, job titles, and telephones numbers that I could follow up on.
•By planning my schedule a month in advance I would maximise my productivity by targeting appointments in specific geographic locations, coupled with concentrating on specific industries and sectors I could maximise the amount of productive visits undertaken, which overall meant an increase in sales.
•I developed full marketing and ecommerce strategies, tailored to specific industries to maximise customer response, either by telephone, email or visits to our website.  These strategies would include increasing customer awareness of new products, special offer pricing, or added value services, predominantly based around a limited time scale, dependant on current sales performance, and capacity within the workshop.

Net Flights - Thomas Cook Group

•	Working as part of a brand new team, our role was to take existing bookings, and up sell customers to convert to more expensive hotels, increase the length of their stay, upgrade their seat class, book airport stays or add car parking, car hire or travel insurance. 
•	By quickly gaining a rapport with the customer, and understanding their individual requirements, I could sell them extra products, increasing the value of their booking, but also improving the customers holiday experience.
•	Due to the complex nature of multi stay, luxury worldwide trips, a high level of customer service, as well as accuracy is required.  
•	Communication with customers was both via email, and over the telephone, working around the customer's availability, even if that meant dealing with them outside office hours.
•	During my time with the company, I regular achieved top sales agent status, as well as many awards for delivering the highest conversion rate.

Now working as Technical account manager for Fileder Filter Systems, one of the largest process filtration and water treatment suppliers in the UK, looking after existing and new business within the food & beverage industry and medical industry for the North of England.
