Asheville School

I oversee all aspects of Technology at Asheville School.  I am the manager of the Technology budgets.  I am responsible for the IT Department, Network Administration, server-related software, server implementation, campus wireless, phone system, and all other technical infrastructure on campus.  I collaborate with school administration to find the best technical solutions for each department, classroom, and technology that enhance and support the overall mission of the school.  

In addition to the Technology Department, I served a 13-year stint as an assistant in the Marketing and  Communications department where my background knowledge of graphic design, video editing, 3D animation, and computer programming was an asset during that phase of our in-house development team.  I  served 10 years as an FTC Robotics coach and volunteer as an FRC Robotics judge at UNCA, as well as 6 years as co-teacher of the App Design, Robotics, and Technology after-school activities.

Our goal is to help students learn the fundamentals of developing apps by teaching them Swift, an open-source programming language introduced by Apple. We also teach basic elements of UI/UX design using Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as marketing an app.  We also offer an extended mentorship program.  We guide our students as they gain confidence in their own coding ability and explore the entire app development process.  We are empowering the next generation of great app developers!
