Lori McGowan is a certified Physician Assistant at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN since 2010, prior to that her background in Primary Care was based out of Western New York. Lori began her career at Mayo Clinic in Orthopedic Surgery practicing in the Upper and Lower Adult Reconstruction specialties. Lori is an Integrated Community Specialist of Orthopedics serving patients in both the Employee and Community Practice and the Destination Medical Center in Orthopedic Surgery. Lori is also an Ultrasound Proceduralist in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery with focused attention to the Shoulder, Hip, Knee, Elbow, Foot and Ankle. Lori has taken on the role of Supervisor of Advanced Practice Providers in Orthopedic Surgery since 2017. Her Podiatry Team has been awarded the prestigious Patient Experience Award for 2020 and 2021. One of Lori’s main interests is in the education, promotion, and growth of Advanced Practice Providers. She has been mentoring in Orthopedics since 2010 and holds the position of a lead preceptor within the Orthopedic Surgery Department and Mayo Clinic PA program, where she also guest lectures. Lori is honored to serve on the committee for the Internal Medicine Review Course for Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants hosted by Mayo Clinic. She holds memberships with multiple professional societies including AAPA and MAPA. She is a member of the NPPA Education Committee for all three Mayo Clinic Campuses. Her areas of special interest and research include Shoulder, Hip, Knee, Foot and Ankle.
