Lorna is a 7x World Champion in Kettlbell Sport, still competing at the highest level at the age of 59 in 2025. She is one of longest-reigning competitive Kettlebell lifters in the US & top female Veteran in Snatch worldwide, even after suffering with debilitating asthma in her youth and having 2 hip replacements from osteoarthritis.

Lorna has presented with Kettlebell Concepts and IKSFA, and taught trainers at The JCC in Manhattan, Nimble Fitness, ECA, CRUNCH, Equinox, and Canyon Ranch locations. 

After witnessing the lack of fitness leaders guiding women who are over 45, Lorna shifted her training services online in 2020. 

She also created LornaFit, a subscription-based platform with 4 levels of at-home workouts using minimal equipment and emphasis on staying injury-free. 

The purpose of LornaFit is to bring joy back to movement and establish and maintain strength, endurance and confidence so women can experience healthful aging like never before.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 #𝟭 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗽 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴

This is one of the best moves for hip mobility and balance, even and especially for those returning to their activities after total hip replacement. 

The hip airplane will get you moving within the internal and external rotation of your hips, using just your bodyweight. 

I use it as part of a warmup for myself and my clients.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼:
✅ Start with a Kickstand Deadlift ball of one foot gently on floor. Hinge from hips, touching fingertips to the seat of a chair and stand. 
15 each side.

✅ Then graduate Single Leg Deadlift, hinging from hips, touching fingertips to the seat of a chair and balancing or touching the foot down upon standing. 
Work up to 15 reps each side. 

✅ Next, place left hand on back of chair. Hinge from your right hip, lifting left leg straight. Place right hand on seat of chair. Open hips to left, imagining your left hip bone pointing left. Close hips so both hip bones face the floor. 
Work up to 15 reps each side.

✅ Last, place left hand on hip, right hand on seat of chair. Open hip to left, ‘”fingernails shine left”, then close hip to face floor, “fingernails face floor.” 
Work up to 15 reps each side. 

Keep eyes and face looking 1-2 feet in front of you.
