Area Sales Manager

Manage overall business performance across all sales and distribution channels.

Manage and deliver sales value and volume targets, cash collection, working capital/funding requirements, business exposure/risk management, as well as overall business profitability of Key Distributors (KD). 

Develop and execute with Key Distributors (KDs) a customer profitability strategy and Joint Business Plan (JBP) that will deliver competitive growth and contribute to the achievement of overall business objectives.

Manage execution of all trade marketing plans and related activities: Promotions/trade activations, Merchandising, Launches, Relaunches etc. Work with 3P Agencies and Field Sales team to ensure brilliant execution of all BTL activities in line with business expectations.

Monitor performance trends and results (brands and SKUs, categories and channels, market share etc) through regular business performance review using internal and external data points. Conduct Sales Reps Point of Purchase (PoP) level sales analysis (using LeverEdge PoP level data), coach and motivate team to reach and exceed agreed target and set goals.

Responsible for building KDs, Channel Partners and Sales Team capability through regular training, coaching and accompaniment. 

Regular field/market visit to connect with customers and shoppers, understand their issues and areas of opportunities, asses the level of in-field execution (in compliance with the business Everyday Great Execution Standard), collate data/reports on market trend from field visit and then channel insight into critical strategy formulation that enables key decisions on pricing, promotion and merchandising.

Increase business opportunities by skillfully sustaining, recognizing and expanding customer base (direct coverage) and other route to market strategies. Channel insights from sales data into sales channel growth and development strategy.

Field Sales Manager (Sales Management, Trade/Shopper Marketing, Distributor Mgt., Capability Dev.)

Responsible for leading the New Business Development Retail Team in Sales Area; driving and inspiring team to achieve business objectives (distribution, visibility, market share growth, price compliance, new account development etc).

Established coverage, built distribution and visibility in focus accounts and channels, while expanding Guinness Nigeria’s footprint to locations with low distribution for our brands and locations where it was over-indexing.

Ensured full delivery of the Sales and Marketing objectives for new business development in the Area – marketing activations, promotions and other trade tactical, including depletion volumes through sell-out from distributor to retail and wholesale channels, market share growth, and distribution.

Managed Distributors and Key Wholesaler Accounts in Sales Area.

Managed Distributors stock inventories across brands and SKUs to forestall overstocking and at the same time avoiding out of stock situations using associated Information Technology Systems. Also ensured efficient Delivery Turnaround Time (DTAT) to minimize logistics cost.

Built capability of Distributors/Wholesalers and development of joint business plans to deliver sustainable business growth. 

Worked with Relationship managers to coordinate and control stock order cycle, cash collection as well as ensured Distributor Finance Scheme was well run with no failed payment.

Achieved profitable volume/market share target for the Area by expanding sales via focus on Retail and Wholesale coverage expansion and brilliant execution of Loyalty Schemes and other activations to drive sales out of the distributors.

Deployed performance tracking and monitoring tools for the distributors to track the performances of their Retailers and Wholesalers for improved relationships and performance.

Ensured regular monthly full business reviews with all Distributors and minimum top 5 wholesalers of each Distributor to track performance and achievement of target objective.
