Starting a marketing agency whilst at university changed my life forever.

Here’s what happened:

2023 I started a marketing agency LABS Media

- I had no clue what I was doing
- Wasted a tonne of time
- Made £1.44 an hour

2024 I got my act together.

- Realised juggling a degree and a business wasn’t easy
- Took time away to focus on the degree
- Came back & niched into financial services
- Grew the agency to 12 total clients in financial services

I'm 22. In a 6yr relationship. Run an online business. 

Last week I moved to my first flat in Manchester

Pretty cool because 12 months ago:

- I'd just graduated from university
- My business was just starting
- I lived with my parents

I'm not saying this to show off.

(Although I am a little proud of myself)

I'm saying this to show how much can change if you:

- Stop waiting for the 'right time'
- Start giving your all
- Refuse to quit

That's what I did these last 12 months.

No way was it easy. 
100% there were ups & downs.
And yes I made TONNES of mistakes

But I'm pretty chuffed I stuck it out :)

Now it's time to take a little break...

...Then do it all again!

Helping financial advisers book 3-5 qualified appointments a week using my 'LinkedIn LeadGen Funnel' | Founder @ LeadGenFS

Shout out to the advisers on LinkedIn who:

- Don’t have it all figured out
- Feel a bit of imposter syndrome 
- Feel awkward making content online
- Haven’t mapped out a 6-month strategy

But hit post anyway :)

When I first started posting:

- I was in my 2nd year at university
- My mates laughed at me for posting
- I felt like quitting almost every week
- I got zero results for the first 90 days

But I kept posting. Kept learning. Kept improving.

And then posting just became something I did.

By trying you're doing better than 95% of advisers.

So keep posting.
And keep learning.

Soon you'll get results.
And then you'll never look back!

How I setup my NEW office for maximum focus:

(12 months of experimenting)

1. My phone has no social media, notifications off, and is placed in a different room.

2. My Ipad has no social media, no messaging apps, and no access to my emails. I literally can only use it as a notebook to airdrop notes to my computer.

3. My computer has no notifications, only the essential apps, and I've installed a Linkedin/Youtube 'feed blocker' so I don't see any content.

4. I shut out all daylight, turn off all my lights and only have my computer screen on. The only light I see is the screen I'm working on.

5. I wear ear plugs and noise cancelling headphones to drown out any noise while I do focused work.

6. I use a timer to estimate how long a task should take, not waste time, and keep me on track. (Also used while I'm doing focused work).

At first I spent hours adding things like productivity apps, AI assistants and checklist tools.

Turns out the secret to deeper focus is just removing all the distractions around you.

Which is why I've setup my work this way :)

Most advisers are happy with £2-£3m AUM a year.

- But he added 4x-6x that
- Using a free LinkedIn account

Big problem I see with most financial advisers:

Their LinkedIn is 95% competitors, not clients.

If you want clients consistently from LinkedIn:

1) Don't connect with competitors
2) Connect with ideal clients instead

Most advisers agree this makes sense.

But still don't do it 🤷‍♂️

Financial adviser & compliance walk into a bar.

Bartender says: "Have a free drink"

The financial adviser:

- Grabs their drink 
- Smiles at the bartender
- Says: "thank you for my free drink!"

Compliance:

- Grabs their free drink
- Smiles at the bartender
- Says: "thank you for my no cost, no obligation, zero commitment drink, without hidden fees that you didn't charge me for."

The end.

I signed 9 new clients from LinkedIn in September.

Here's how to do the same as an adviser:

Step 1: Pick a niche

- Pick a small group of people
- That are high earners
- And can be targeted on Linkedin

Step 2: Make them your network:

- Aim for 90% of your network 
- To be your ideal clients
- Connect with 20 a day

Step 3: Optimise your profile:

- Make your profile convert booked calls
- Add links to book an appointment
- Use your banner to prompt a call

Step 4: Post content for your niche

- Post educational content
- Post client results
- Post 5x a week

Step 5: Message clients in the DMs

- Don't pitch straight away
- Start 10 conversations a day
- Then offer a free call

That's it. That's the strategy. 

Now do it.

Reading ≠ Results.

My LinkedIn profile books 3 sales calls a week

Here’s 6 changes to optimise yours:

1. Your profile picture

- Get a professional headshot
- Use a brand colour as background
- Makes a good first impression 

2. Your banner

- Show who you help 
- What you help them achieve  
- And some social proof/client results

3. Your headline 

- Call out your niche
- Call out how you help them
- Use this "Helping [niche] get [thing they want]"

4. Your book call link

- Add a profile link to book a call
- Say that it's a free call
*LinkedIn is removing this soon

5. Your featured section

- Add a featured section
- Add a link to book a call
- Design a custom thumbnail like mine

6. Your book call button (premium only)

- Add a custom button to your profile
- Change it to 'book appointment
- Link to your calendar

I've made all these changes to my profile.

Now it turns views into appointments.

That's because:

- It calls out who I help
- It shows exactly how I help them
- And all links go to one place (my calendar)
