Because society has conditioned you to be clean

We need to be greedier! 
Why be happy with 1 acre if you can make 1.4 acres from it?

Most of our food is grown on a two-dimensional field.
So boring. And such a waste of space!

Why grow in 2D if you can grow in 3D? 
Enter agroforestry!

A study in France showed that the yield from 1 hectare of a walnut/wheat mix is the same as from 1.4 hectares with trees and crops separated.

Mixing trees and annual crops is THE key to a resilient future, so what are we waiting for?

🌳 Agroforestry is less vulnerable to climate change. 

🌱 Trees provide shelter to crops and reduce damage due to high spring temperatures.

🦋 Biodiversity is increased since it creates a diverse habitat where wildlife species can live. 

🌼 It also acts in controlling pests and enhancing pollination.

💰 Farmers can diversify their products, increase their income, improve soil and water quality, reduce (wind) erosion, and prevent damage due to flooding. 

🪱 Soil and water quality are improved, preventing erosion.

👶🏼 Agroforestry plays a role in maintaining land for future generations.

🌎 Properly designed and managed agroforestry systems may help to increase the sequestration of atmospheric carbon, improve soil quality, and soil conservation.

Yet 99% of what we eat are annuals

There is a huge discrepancy between what nature gives us and what we force nature to do

The consequence: 90% of oir soils will be degraded by 2050 according to the UN.

We can create a world of abundance but for this we need to Eat More Trees.

Let's imagine a future where we can let every toddler crawl through any agricultural field, any crop, where it is perfectly safe to nibble on everything edible.

The good news: this future already exists, but only on a small percentage of land.

We abolished slavery, banned asbestos, now it is time to ban pesticides.

Let's do this together with farmers, because they are the biggest victims of this. 

Everybody will become healthier and wealthier because of this transformation.

The EU banned certain pesticides such as paraquat, fipronil, atrazine,... because they are highly poisonous. ☠️

Today, EU companies like BASF, Syngenta and Bayer (Monsanto), still sell those highly poisonous pesticides to South America. 🤯

Mercosur is a trade agreement that will flood the EU market with South American food products containing the very pesticides we banned.

🧐 Double standards? Or is this a type of karma?

Farmers in the EU really do their best to farm to high standards. 🇪🇺

👉🏼 Selling South American products with lower standards is like expecting EU farmers to win the Tour de France while doping the South American team 🚲

🤔 The EU claims that it will "check" the food entering for residues. But today ALL children already have pesticides in their blood; showing that their "checking" isn't that secure after all.

🇧🇷 🇦🇷 I've been to most Mercosur countries and I love them, I love the farmers I've met, and this is not a good versus bad story. (Though I always feel bad walking around a farm where they use paraquat for example).

It's a story about democracy and corruption.

The EU's democracy has been (a bit) stronger on banning poisonous goods; this is a challenge Mercosur countries still have to face.

It is also scientifically proven that there is more corruption in Mercosur countries, and you don't want to rely on possibly corrupt "certificates" proving their food is qualitative enough.

You need to have certain minimum needs that are met.

All these things might cost you zero dollars or euro's.

But before you have the mental space to realize this. You need to get out of survival mode.

So while yoga costs you nothing, financial or other stress can prevent you from taking a step back

How do you get out of survival mode?

I learned from a climate psychologist that you have to start to take control of very tiny stuff: how you breathe, how you sleep, how you eat

Little by little, these tiny control points will create an anchor

And then you can read this list and say: ok, I can do all this for free, what shall I choose?
