Postgraduate Technical Assistant

Helped in the teaching and administration of the ACCT 200- Fundamentals of Financial Accounting course at KU.

In this role I taught two weekly accounting labs where students applied basic accounting theory in practical examples and lectured on the more complex aspects of the content taught in lecture in the preceding week. I also connected with and mentored my students, all of which were new to the KU School of Business, to act as a role model and resource as they began their business education.

Graduate Teaching Assistant

During my internship I supported audit teams by helping with the fieldwork and planning documents for audits of SEC filers in accordance with PCAOB audit standards, IFRS accounting standards, and US GAAP. In my role, I used technology to communicate effectively with teammates and other interns in a fully-remote internship environment. 

I was fortunate to have had exposure to complex accounting due to the engagement team's willingness to give interns opportunities to work on some technically challenging parts of the audit. This gave the opportunity to utilize Deloitte's research tools and other resources and apply that knowledge on challenging assignments.

Audit and Assurance Winter Intern

Helped in the teaching and administration of the "ACCT 200 - Fundamentals of Financial Accounting" course at KU. This role was as an undergraduate teaching assistant, but my responsibilities were identical to my responsibilities when serving as a graduate teaching assistant.

Throughout the internship I supported audit teams by completing tasks related to planning and fieldwork for audits of employee benefit plans, publicly-traded companies, and not-for-profit entities. I aided in the performance of these audits with my team in accordance with all applicable legal requirements and industry guidance, including, but not limited to ERISA and US GAAP.

I apprenticed under my dad, the owner and sole general contractor of the company, whenever I was home on break from the University of Kansas. This role helped me create my foundational job skills such as work ethic and the ability to adapt to extremely dynamic work environments.

Currently completing a one-year assistantship at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) as a Postgraduate Technical Assistant. I've passed all parts of the CPA exam and expect to be licensed as a CPA within the first half of 2024.
