I have done this leveraging a variety of on-prem orchestration platforms including OpenStack, K8s, and VMWare as well as public cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP using Contrail to provide connectivity, security, and services.

Senior Staff Software Engineer in Contrail Solutions Group

Lead technical architect for anything related to wireless and wireline activities within AT&T. Work closely with BU(s) to help define and drive strategic product direction in the Routing, Switching and the SDN/NFV space.
Recent focus has been identifying how to bring virtualization and "SDN" technologies to AT&T's wireline and wireless networks. I am the technical lead on the Juniper AT&T account driving AT&T's User Defined Network Cloud(UDNC) vision, a.k.a. Domain 2.0.
Recent work has focused on Juniper’s OpenContrail as an enabler of cloud services.  This included putting end-to-end POC's and demo's together using both Juniper and non-Juniper related technologies. Proposing new technology use-cases and revenue enablers for AT&T leveraging automation, orchestration and analytics for new services being defined as Domain 2.0.
Some examples include: business cloud CPE/Firewall use-case (VNF) leveraging concepts such as NFV, service chaining, orchestration, network virtualization (overlays), data/service abstraction through data models (using RESTful API's and HEAT Templates) etc. Early field deployments of JUNOS based Virtual Route Reflector and Virtual Provider Edge, high-scale design and network services using Juniper and non-juniper virtual products, etc. Finally, evolving the Central Office and Data Centers to a “Telco Cloud” architecture to help extend services using virtualization technologies in highly distributed environments using Openstack and OpenContrail.

Consulting Systems Engineer

Account technical lead for AT&T wireline activities related to their Common Backbone Core, business offerings (IP VPN and Internet), Voice/Cloud offerings, Metro Network, etc. Provided technical leadership and guidance with key AT&T decision makers to help drive and grow their product offerings.
Work with AT&T and Juniper key technical leaders on identifying technology gaps and requirements and ensuring solutions/proposals were captured in both standards bodies and implemented in future Juniper products.
Required to present to large audiences both internally and externally as a keynote speaker, technical presentations to nontechnical audiences, technical presentations to very technical audiences.
An example of the above duties included:
The proposal and eventual adoption of BGP based Flowspec as a technology enabler for AT&T. This initially started as a method to mitigate DDOS attacks but has later evolved as a way to steer traffic to services both in the physical and virtual environments. Proposed and prototyped innovate ways to implement BGP Flowspec which is now widely used across multiple accounts within Juniper.

Provide network configuration and analysis while acting as customer technical interface for Juniper Networks in AT&T for a variety of certification cycles.
Support internal development teams for various certification efforts on a variety of Fields of Use.
Meet with customers and hold design workshops to understand and analyze the customer’s existing network designs, and future technical requirements.
From the analysis performed, create appropriate designs. Upon design completion, create programs to execute the designs implement the designs as recommended.
Management and tracking of open trouble tickets during certification cycles, return material authorization (RMA) requests, and open “bug” reports, network implementation, etc.
Deployment guidance to ensure that implementation is consistent with design specifications.

Resident Engineer Senior Staff

Bloomberg

Senior Network Design Engineer with hands-on and project management experience in design, building, testing, deploying, troubleshooting, monitoring and maintaining one of the largest financial networks in the world. The Bloomberg L.P. network stretches to over 110 countries with connections to over 15,000 distinct customer locations and over 33,000 leased circuits globally with multiple data-centers that provide ultra-redundant, high-capacity network connectivity to over 2,000 enterprise-class servers. 

Helped design, extensively lab test and implement a Service Provider Grade BGP/MPLS L3VPNs WAN infrastructure. This involved consolidating 7 OSPF Clouds into 3 OSPF IGP’s with BGP running within and between the AS clouds. 

Architected, lab tested and engineered a BGP/MPLS L3VPN solution for the jumbo MTU storage network creating a highly distributed data-center solution using Integrated Routing and Bridging (IRB) within VRF's for dual-homed servers to use applications like, NFS, iSCSI, NetBackup and bulk-transfer but still maintain domain segregation between clouds.

Designed new data-center from the ground-up and migrated from an existing data-center using MPLS technologies like “targetted-ldp” to stretch the layer 2 customer-facing networks to ensure no loss to customer connectivity and no change to customer firewalls or policies

Built and lab tested MBGP-Based Multicast VPNs with P2MP LSPs using RSVP-TE Fast Reroute to be used in Storage Network. This is required for Bloomberg multicast software distribution application. This will also eventually be added to the customer facing MPLS network for a true end-to-end multicast solution.

Designed, tested and deployed an extranet L3VPN solution that forced “untrusted” traffic to pass through a stateful firewall to “be cleansed” before entering the corporate network.

Wrote Perl scripts to baseline and support day-to-day provisioning activities on JUNOS, IOS and FTOS network devices for Network Operations.

Network Design Engineer

Lead engineer for the build-out of the entire LAN infrastructure for a new building that houses over 5000 employees. Designed, configured, tested and deployed 25 routers and 120 switches on a 10 GB backbone using SUP720s. Specified power and structured cabling requirements for the infrastructure and ensured timely installation. Designed multiple networks including OSPF, RIPv2 and static routes, with unique requirements using Redistribution, standard and extended ACLs, Distribute Lists, and TACACS for specific departments including: Backoffice, Programming, Telecommunications, Radio/TV and Sales.

Spearheaded the rollout of the wireless infrastructure for the new building housing 5000 employees. Determined authentication and encryption policies, positioned the Access Point locations based on site surveys, configured the templates for the Access Points and managed them using Cisco’s Wireless LAN Solutions Engine. Set Security and Performance policies and enforced them by deploying Airmagnet Sensors and Airmagnet Distributed to passively monitor the RF. 

Contributed largely to the rollout of Cisco’s IPTV video-on-demand solution by configuring multicast routing on the campus. Determined the RP’s and enabled IGMP and PIM Sparse/Dense Mode. Because of the migration of employees to the new building, there existed two PIM-SM domains and it was necessary to configure MSDP to peer both RPs so the list of sources sending to multicast groups could be determined.

Local Area Network Engineer, Information Systems

Duties include fielding chronic customers’ network or proprietary Bloomberg application calls regarding CE connectivity, interface (API), slowness and functional issues. Coordinated troubleshooting talks with customers’ network administrators, Bloomberg field technicians and Telecommunication technicians and collaborated with Bloomberg Programmers and Hardware Engineers. This position required excellent oral as well as written communication skills dealing directly with high-paying customers for the Bloomberg Application. This also required team oriented social skills to work in this high-stress and high-paced environment.
