- Show up on video

to succeed.

You can:

- Post when you want
- Engage how you want 
- Show up how you want

You don't need 1000s of followers to find clients here.

You just need to:

- Write to your dream client
- Show them what you do
- Prove the results

And maybe send them a few DMs.

I wanted to spend time settling in and focussing on business essentials.

1 year ago, I left my job.

Since then I've:

- Moved to Australia
- Been on 2 podcasts
- 23,000 profile views
- Grown my confidence 
- Destroyed 3 notebooks
- Worked with 20+ clients
- Swam in the sea at least 50x
- Written too many posts to count
- Generated 2,150,000+ impressions
- Got into the fitness (and given it up) x3
- Made 1 digital product (finished it today!)
- Averaged 8,000 steps a day... I guess writing does involve a lot of sitting
- Generated leads for myself and clients (should've kept track of this better but recently started using @folk)

It's crazy how fast it's gone.

What's something crazy that you've achieved?

Here's how I'm writing 3 sample posts for a potential client.

(without rushing to write something sh*t in 2 hours)

1. Initial call

We had an 30-minute call to discuss their:

- Goals
- Business
- Expectations

And all the other details I might need.

This potential client had already been posting for a while so we're starting in a great postition.


2. Analytics

I asked them to export their LinkedIn analytics so I can study their top-performing posts.

I open this spreadsheet and add the following columns:

- Hook
- CTA
- Topic 
- Content
- Ideas

So I can go through their top posts and work out how we can maximise reach and engagement on those posts.

And I can easily pull new ideas from here.

As well as defining pillars.


3. Go through posts on their profile

The spreadsheet only has the top 50 posts so then I'll go through the posts on their profile  and pick out any key topics, content and ideas to add into the spreadsheet.

This gives me a better understanding of their current content balance.

And see topics that got less engagement.

But we still need to post about.


4. Wider research

Next, I look at the posts of their:

- Competitors
- Inspiration
- Peers

to find new content ideas and topics that they haven't spoken about yet.

And then I’ll also dive into their niche, website and offerings.


5. The sample posts

After these steps, I’ll start deciding on the final ideas for the sample posts.

I'll send across 3 main ideas (with hooks).

And a few extras to show what it could look like to work with me.

Once approved by client, I'll write out the full posts.


I want my samples to be as close to the final product as possible.

And this is also why sample posts are not free.

(For context, I've already spent 2.5 hours working on these and still on step 2)

But it sets you up perfectly to work together.

- Tone of voice
- Research
- Topics

You're already 1 step ahead.

There's something I haven't been doing enough of.

And that's going to change.

Since I got to Australia, I decided to focus on the essentials of my business - and working on a few things BTS.

But I haven't focussed enough on

- Bring your questions
- Bring a coffee

This 1 message is my #1 source of leads.

And it only takes me 15 minutes each week.

I just:

- Go through my connection requests
- Look out for my ideal clients
- And send a message

“Hey X, thank you for the connection request. Why did you decide to connect with me?”

(Or some similar variation)

It’s simple, right?

Well, no.

Everyone (don't come for me, I'm guilty too) loves to oversimplify the process, but it's not as simple as:

- Writing posts for 3+ months
- Engaging with people
- Sharing your offer

Though it does help if you do it right.

But the reality is...

You won’t just wake up one day with your ideal clients requesting to connect, ready to respond with "I want to work with you" and setting up a call right there and then.

It does feel good when it starts to happen consistently.

But you’ve first got to:

- Work out their problems (and your solution)
- Write specifically to those ideal clients
- Strategically grow your audience

That takes time - and energy.

There's so much more to everything than you see in posts, they're an insight.

And with posts getting shorter and shorter for our dwindling attention spans, how much value can you really get from 25 words?

Posting on LinkedIn has pushed me out of my comfort zone.

And my confidence has come a long way. 

I started off with:

- Complicated pre-call routines 
- Not knowing what i’m talking about
- And being terrified I’d mess everything up

To:

- Getting excited for calls
- Feeling secure in my work
- Being able to voice my opinion 

When I started my business, I wasn’t sure if those feelings would pass.

But they did.

(Most of the time - we can’t always be perfect. Imposter syndrome and doubt can be sneaky)

So if you’re just starting out, or maybe going through a tough time, these will pass.

And if you ever need a little bit of reassurance you’re on the right track, feel free to reach out.

It takes me 2-3x longer to write client posts now than last year.

Here's why.

When I started posting on LinkedIn, I had 0 clue what I was doing.

It took me 3 months to get my first inbound lead.

(Who turned into my first client)

Since we had:

- Similar personalities
- Similar tone-of-voice
- And I knew the industry well

It wouldn't take me too long to research, plan and write each week.

(and my pricing reflected that. No £1000 retainers from day 1 unlike some of the "My best friend took a chance on me and today I made 7-figures a year" stories)

But now, everyday is a new challenge.

- Complex topics
- Industries I’ve never explored 
- Technical information that needs to be correct

As well as strategy to get the client → goal.

And it takes time.

But I love it.

I had to make a tough decision.

But it's something I need to do.

I'm postponing my hybrid cohort until Q3.

Why?

I realised I can't do everything.

(As much as I'd like to)

But its more important for me to:

- Polish my existing services
- Improve the client experience
- Focus on maximising client results

As well as:

- Finishing my own rebrand 
- Creating more resources
- Sort out my newsletter

And I don't have the capacity to do it all.

Yet.

I've already spoken to those who were interested but thought it was time to let everyone know.

But this means I will be creating a waitlist for when it does re-launch.
