British Horseracing Authority

The Head of Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for leading and coordinating the 
implementation and future development of British racing’s Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan. 
Ensuring it is constantly striving to be a more diverse and inclusive workplace for the 85,000 
people directly or indirectly employed across the sport, as well as assisting to ensure British 
racing can attract and appeal to the widest participants and fans of the future.

In contributing to this broad objective, the Head of Diversity and Inclusion will work closely with 
the Diversity in Racing Steering Group, the BHA Executive and Board, Industry People Board 
and other Committees, along with stakeholders and participants throughout racing to gain 
support for and to deliver the Diversity and Inclusion Plan. They will also provide impetus and 
support to organisations, individuals and committees to help ensure the right conditions are in 
place to foster a diverse and inclusive sport. The role will also be responsible for coordinating 
and securing funding to support planned activities.

Inclusion
•	Development implementation and delivery of Inclusion plan
•	Advice to wider business through inclusion lens to embed in overall employee experience 
•	Overseeing, supporting and collaborating with relevant employee networks to drive inclusion activities
•	Review policies and practices to ensure inclusive practice
•	Support in production of gender pay gaps reports, ultimately driving to close the gap through education and inclusion plans
•	Developing, leading and facilitating inclusion training sessions as required
•	To gather data insights both internally and externally, analyse trends and measure progress against strategic aims
•	Build strong external partnerships to help guide and deliver our inclusion priorities  
Engagement
•	Lead the entire annual engagement cycle including communication, data analysis and action planning 
•	Increase participation and engagement in annual engagement survey, including running company wide information sessions
•	Ensure managers are equipped to access and interpret their results
•	Develop an employee engagement communication plan that keeps people up to date on how we are progressing with actions and what’s coming next
•	Support with ad-hoc engagement activities that may support other people team activities such as wellbeing and employee recognition
Learning
•	Work with the People Director to identify, develop and deliver appropriate learning and development solutions for WRU Group employees
•	Evaluate organisational learning needs working with department heads
•	Plan the annual training calendar 
•	Help employees make the most of learning opportunities through quality conversations
•	Implement various learning methods and evaluate their success
•	Explore the use of  apprenticeship/placement and work experience opportunities

Head of Inclusion at British Horseracing Authority. Brain tumour and childhood cancer campaigner, Trustee & charity Founder at Larsen’s Pride

I am an experienced inclusion and culture specialist and have worked with Premier League football clubs and National Governing Bodies of sport for over 10 years, both internally and as a trusted consultant. I have sat on senior leadership teams of two NGB’s, across inclusion, engagement and learning, with extensive experience in developing and leading diversity and inclusion strategies.

I have worked extensively on ambitious projects to lead inclusion and organisational culture. My particular areas of interest focus on inclusive leadership, having completed an MRes on the subject, specifically in sport, in 2022. 

I also have board level experience, including founding a childhood cancer charity Larsen’s Pride, for which I am a Trustee. I have previously been a board member of Worcester City FC Supporters Trust and a Trustee of Tigers4Ever, an international conservation charity.
