The Living First Language platform preserves and revitalises Indigenous First Languages and turns them into dynamic, community-led and interactive digital literacy apps. In 2019, the platform won in its category of ‘Innovation in Connecting People’ at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Innovation Awards in Austin, Texas. We are incredibly honoured to be a recipient of this prestigious award, which is a win for First Languages in Australia and has the potential to impact individuals and communities across the globe.

In Australia, First Languages are disappearing at a faster rate than anywhere in the world despite a universal acknowledgment that language plays a vital role in the health, wellbeing, education and future of Indigenous peoples.  The Living First Language project harnesses technology in order to stem the tide of loss of First Languages and empower children to become learners in their Mother Tongues. ALNF’s technological solution offers a faster and more scalable means to efficiently and effectively capture and share languages.

Within Australia alone, 81,100 people  identify as the speaker of an Indigenous language and 276,300 people who identify language as part of heritage. Globally, there are over 350 million Indigenous people across 90 countries worldwide. Yet, we can all benefit from this project, which will raise awareness of Indigenous languages and make them more accessible.

ALNF hopes that the impact of this initiative goes beyond preservation of Language, and that the platform serves to strengthen communities, bridge cultural divides, foster resilience, encourage literacy and puts First Language back into community members’ hands.

Our team of internal consultants are the single point of co-ordination for Digital Strategy, Internal Analytics and Innovation for the Global Markets division.

We work with Markets product owners to develop ideas and concepts through to funding and delivery by our IT teams.

We also partner with our Innovation team to explore emerging technologies to understand and unlock their potential.

Recruited into the markets business division initially to help develop a business case ($40-50m budget) to transform the client experience for our corporate and institutional client’ s through investment in our digital channels. 

Having successfully received funding for this program the focus of my role is to develop the first multi asset class Markets Digital Strategy for CBA.

Promoted to the role of executive manager from within the existing team and given the responsibility of establishing and maturing the business solutions consulting processes and capability in IB&M & BPB

-	Defining and maintaining currency of IB&M IT strategy (total IT spend of approx. $250m+ pa)
- Represent IT at EGM Strategy and Operations leadership team
- Developing consultancy practice within IB&M IT 
- Managing portfolio of strategic initiatives with team of 5-6 consultants
- Initial strategy for IB&M Digital Channels approach (Proposed spend of $45m)
- Partnering with the Business and ES to drive the IB&M Strategic Planning Papers (5 Divisional SPP, 1 BU SPP and ES SPPs)

Executive Manager - IB&M Business Solutions

Business Solutions offer a range of consulting services to develop and execute business ideas and strategies.

We are the first point of contact into IT for any new initiatives that have the potential to require project funding or resources. We progress initiatives into the propose phase of the project lifecycle by partnering with the business to understand business problems and develop concepts to form IT solutions.

Business Solutions also keep up to date on IT and Financial Services trends to proactively identify opportunities and support the business in forming a view on industry issues.

Typically these are larger consulting engagements for 3-6 months working more closely with the different IB&M CIOs and their respective leadership teams. 

By applying many of the group’s standards such as SDLC, PMLC, Process Excellence and Organisational Change Management I have helped stakeholders drive successful business outcomes through the implementation of their strategic projects.

I was contracted to lead the IT development stream for the design, build and launch of an innovative new product type into the Australian market. 

Initially the role included influencing the product design with small modifications to the product features which meant the systems could be developed quicker and ensured the product was delivered to market in the quickest possible time.

I was contracted to lead the IT delivery stream for the implementation and launch of a new Italian Life Insurance product. This role included the planning, allocation and management of the resources allocated to the IT stream of this project as well as providing ongoing reporting and support to the Programme Manager.

I also provided quality assurance reviews of existing project documentation such as Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, Test Plan and Test conditions.
