My time as an Admission Counselor has given me the privilege to read student stories and witness their accomplishments by reading about 3,000 applications per cycle. Since I am the territory manager for the largest non-Texas domestic territory, I have traveled to 8 states and recruited in over 50 high schools! In addition to recruitment, I’ve worn many hats in this role, such as project manager and event planner. As an Admission Counselor on the Marketing and Communications and Yield teams, I have experience in cross-team collaboration and project management.

I lived near Madrid, Spain for one school year working as an English Language Assistant at a primary and secondary school! In this role, I helped kids from the age of 5-17 practice English, through conversation, games and activities, as well as presenting on American culture and assisting other teachers. And yes, I found time to travel! Ask me about the Camino de Santiago!

I planned and taught a 6 week virtual Math and Science course for 7th and 8th graders from inner city Chicago! I guided 30 students in 2-3 science experiments per week, while teaching geometry and algebra online. My favorite class was when we discussed evolution through our pets!

In this position, I gave 5-10 weekly tours of the University of Dallas to prospective students and their families to help them make their college decision. After my first year as a Student Ambassador, I was promoted! In the lead role, I directed the student worker team during busy campus visit days, and I trained new student workers in how to give tours and work the front desk. Working in Undergraduate Admissions helped me to develop skills in public speaking, leadership, and interpersonal communication!

My primary responsibility as an intern was to help the Events team with lectures and events by working with professors and IWP patrons. I planned social media posts for the following year, edited videos, and did data entry with Survey Monkey, Donor Perfect, and EventBrite. Hey there, my name is Maggie Fazio! I love working with people and helping them develop into better versions of themselves! I work in the Office of Admissions at Rice University, where I help find, recruit, and admit talented students from across the U.S. I love witnessing their stories and celebrating their accomplishments in this role. Before I came here in 2022, I taught English near Madrid, Spain for a year. A long held dream come true, I was able to have relationships with students (ages 5-16), practice Spanish, and travel! I graduated from the University of Dallas in May 2021, where I studied Human and Social Sciences, Spanish, and American politics. While at UD, I had the pleasure of researching for some passion projects, representing my Alma Mater in the Admissions Office, and studying abroad in Rome, Italy. I love collaborating, learning new things, and challenging myself!
