For the past three years, I have been working to hone my marketing skills, but I didn't begin my journey in the most conventional way. Deciding against university, I took the road less travelled. After realising that marketing was my passion and wanting to pursue it as a career, I self-funded a Level 4 CIM course, whilst working full-time. While I was learning the marketing basics I wanted to put my new skills to the test, therefore I decided to offer my services for free to small businesses in the Derbyshire area. I specialised in: - Strategy creation - Social media management - Copyright/content creation - Branding This offered me a valuable insight into many different industries such as: sports, health & beauty, music and media. With a qualification and a years experience under my belt I decided to begin the search for my first marketing job. This involved a lot of cover letters, CVs, research and calls. I was successful and secured a role at Penguins, a DRPG company. Throughout my time at Penguins I have run numerous campaigns, including a European campaign, I have created a podcast, I have co-managed two websites, have had articles published in European CEO and other publications, and have become fluent in social media marketing, SEO, email marketing, strategy and content creation, analytics, project management and much more. In 2020, I completed a Level 6 CIM course in Professional Digital Marketing. Most recently I have created an online community, plug. The idea behind plug. is to help young marketers develop themselves and allow them an easier marketing journey than I have had.
