In 2020, my world turned upside down. Financial turmoil in Lebanon wiped out my savings. But when one door closed, another opened. I received a scholarship to pursue my dream research in Canada, working with a renowned expert in North America. Before moving to Canada, I was involved in community-focused projects. I led the development of a teacher training program accredited by Switzerland and helped establish a Family Support Unit. Additionally, I participated in national research projects that have been recognized and published in leading journals. Upon arriving in Canada, I encountered a challenge: I lacked programming skills, essential for modern research. Determined, I dedicated myself to learning. In a year, I not only learned coding but also spearheaded data science projects, applied computational analysis, and taught coding to over 100 undergraduate students. My efforts were recognized. I received awards, fellowship opportunities, and speaking engagements. I was even considered for a PhD in computer science at UVIC. Through this journey, I realized the broader impact of research beyond academia. Now, I'm seeking opportunities to apply my research skills in new areas.
