Leading and managing two research teams conducting fundamental research on neuro-symbolic AI and Natural Language Understanding, with use cases in both general NLP tasks such as question answering and domain-specific NLP tasks such as Biomedical textual analysis. I’m also co-lead of learnable reasoning, responsible for the overall strategy of integrating knowledge, learning and reasoning.

I am researching and developing AI and Machine Learning software for autonomous operation of robots in unstructured and dynamic environments. I am research lead for a research team of 9 researchers, including students, in which we are prototyping an Intelligent Assembly Workcell, in which a mobile manipulator (a mobile base with a robot arm attached to it) must sense and detect objects around it, recognize them and manipulate them autonomously (autonomously perform a task such as pick-and-place or part assembly), using machine learning techniques.
