At the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, our team is at the forefront of antiviral drug development, leveraging a novel humanized mouse model with a fully functional human immune system. Spearheading the EPIC-CROWN-2 project, we're testing groundbreaking treatments against SARS-CoV-2 and advancing the field of virology research focused on Tropical viruses such as RVFV, Hantavirus and YFV with the creation of alternative preclinical test systems.

Holding a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, I bring a robust background in studying the physiological effects of bacterial toxins. My work encompasses not only the development of quantitative methods for toxin analysis but also the strategic implementation of SOPs for high-containment pathogens, reflecting my commitment to excellence in scientific innovation and public health.
