KEY FOCUS
To assist in the support and inclusion of students with learning differences, SEND, Medical Conditions and / or physical disabilities into College courses, helping them fulfil their academic potential.

To support the learning of all students when additional and specific support is identified, including initiatives such as the Learning Support Centre support programme and target setting responses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To take into account the needs of the students supported, and to support them in learning as effectively as possible, including:
• Practical assistance to and from lessons / in classes and in examinations.
• Support students in college related activities e.g. note-taking, accompanying them on visits.
• Provide guidance with the organisational and management of their learning.
• Explaining and clarifying instructions / information.
• Facilitating access to equipment and resources including the use of assistive technology.
• Meeting physical needs, including providing personal care, whilst encouraging independence.
• Supporting students to meet deadlines consistently.
• Motivating and encouraging students to achieve their maximum potential and exceed
target grades.
• Supporting access to college facilities.
• Supervising and assisting students during breaks and lunchtimes.
• Any other support function appropriate to the individual student.
• Supporting students during examinations for example acting as a reader or scribe in order
to support students fully with their access arrangements.
• Encouraging independence in preparation for their next destination and ultimate
employment.
• Any Learning Support Centre administrative duties as directed by the Associate Assistant
Principal of Additional Learning and Specialist Support.

To develop a supportive relationship with students and develop strategies to promote and reinforce students’ self-esteem, including mentoring activity, and much much more.

Learning Support Assistant

Kirklees College

Educational support assistant working with teachers to provide one-to-one support for students with particular learning needs, specifically autism, dyslexia and cerebral palsy.

Supporting students doing college work under the supervision of the tutor. Preparing learning resources, encouraging student confidence, self esteem and independence in the learning environment.

The students I worked with were level 2 and level 3 Media Studies students. Units including Digital Media Production, Media Theory, Digital Photography, Film/After Effects, English and Maths.

Previously 20,000 MySpace friends and a 13,000 page Ning community with 1000 members by 2010. The first 15 online publications received over 2.5 million views in 18 months on issuu.com.

This is a classroom-based Level 5 (2nd Year) unit for students studying in the Department of Marketing, Retail and Tourism in the MMU Business School, led by Allie Johns. 

It seeks to offer the experience of working in an agency, whether advertising/branding, integrated marketing, PR, digital or third sector, but based within the classroom. 

Students are working on real projects offered by agencies and organisations to reach their learning objectives.

Digital Media and Marketing Platforms (Level 4)
Better known as DMMP, this is a core module at Level 4 for all Marketing Management, Public Relations and Retailing students delivered through the Department of Marketing, Retail and Tourism in the MMU Business School

The unit has been designed to provide an understanding of digital and social platforms as well as contemporary digital marketing techniques.
