In this role, I oversaw all social media and digital communications strategy and tactical plan development for the Global Product Strategy (GPS) Communications team.

In addition to providing strategic counsel & training, another key aspect of my work was to review all plans and content to ensure the quality and compliance of everything that we did. I drove ongoing improvement in objective/KPI setting, audience & channel selection, content development & publishing, and analytics & insight generation. I also acted as my team's "point person" for the digital team in Roche Group Communications, who own and operate the Global corporate social media channels, and for whom my team provided the majority of posted content.

In my spare time, I loved to find and work with cool people across the organisation. Example activities and projects included giving presentations to - and running workshops for - Roche teams around the world on key topics around digital communications and social media; being the lead author of the Roche Social Media Playbook, and the Roche Key Online Influencer Engagement Framework; having driven the set-up of our paid social media capability on the Roche Global social media channels; and driving initial sprints on how to embed Integrated Audience Engagement into the business.

Social Media Strategy Leader

In this role, I led the development and implementation of internal and external global communications strategy, tactics and resources for the Global Biologic Strategy Team, including the Core Messaging Framework and Biosimilar Readiness Guidance for the global commercial organisation. My main day-to-day responsibilities were to (a) lead the development of key messages, Q&A documents and media/digital collateral around our corporate position and activities around biotherapeutics and biosimilars; and (b) identify, prepare for and manage issues related to these topics.

Senior International Communications Leader

In this role, I led the development and implementation of internal and external global communications strategy, tactics and resources, initially for the Roche lung and skin cancer franchises, and subsequently for the breast cancer franchise. I was a standing member of the Lifecycle and Core Business Teams for the brands within my assigned franchises, providing them with senior-level counsel on communications strategy. Operating within a decentralised, “matrix”-style organisation, I was adept at identifying appropriate internal business partners and working collaboratively with them to achieve mutual business goals.

My major responsibilities as ICL were to (a) lead the development of global press releases, Q&A documents and media collateral; (b) identify, prepare for and manage issues related to the brands within assigned franchises.

As a self-directed "side project", I lead the development of multiple social media campaigns and other core content on roche.com relating to several major medical conferences. This involved pulling together cross-functional teams with representatives from across the business in each case; developing articles directly and in partnerships with colleagues; as well as leading the development of associated social media plans. I won an internal communications excellence award for my campaign for the ASCO Annual Meeting in 2015. Through my digital activities, I was invited to become a member of the Roche Digital Governance Network.

As another "side" project, for several years I produced “Roche TV”, which consisted of sets of “talking head” videos - all shot and edited onsite - providing news and insights from our activities at many major medical congresses.

International Communications Leader

In this role, I built up and led multiple client service teams, including line management responsibility. I provided counsel to teams across the business on how to translate scientific needs and messaging into communications strategy. I also directly developed content where necessary/appropriate: one example was when I developed the full storyboard and content for one client’s iPad app for use by sales reps during visits, which was the core of a marketing campaign short-listed at the PMEA Awards 2012. I was a member of the W2O London Leadership Team, in an office that had only existed for around one year, and was rapidly growing.

At CCA, I was the team leader and principal client contact for one of the company’s key accounts, while also co-leading multiple other accounts. I managed a six-person client service team. More broadly, I was responsible for the overall direction and programming of multiple full-service communication programmes (e.g. comprising PR, Med Ed and digital/social media elements). I played a major role in driving new business activities and leading pitch/proposal development.

During my time at ScopeMedical, I headed up one of the client service teams. In addition, I was also a member of business development team, personally responsible - via desk research, cold calling and proactive sales activities - for bringing in over £400,000-worth of business and a project for a major new client in just under one year.

In this role, I was a member – and later the day-to-day leader – of the BM London Medical Education team. I managed a two-person client service team, while being fully involved in the development of a wide range of programmes and materials across our MedEd client portfolio.

I help people fix tough problems in two distinct areas: their marketing communications as a freelance consultant, and their health issues as a private wellness coach.

Having had a 20-year career spanning scientific research, medical/corporate/brand communications, public relations, and digital/social/content marketing - including leadership positions on both the client and vendor side - I ensure that my clients can communicate what they need to say to their customers and stakeholders in the best way possible.

Having reversed a number of my own, so-called "incurable" chronic health conditions and then of many of my clients, I bring together my personal experience and knowledge from various treatment modalities to help people dive deep into the true root causes of their issues and resolve them as quickly and easily as possible.

In both of these areas, I like to challenge the status quo to come up with the most impactful and efficient solutions possible. I thrive on helping people overcome their problems, especially via presenting, coaching, training and mentoring.
