“If you see dust, pick a broom and start cleaning. Don’t complain.” My mother said this to me when I was 13. Her facial expression is edged in my permanent memory. She said it with such conviction, but my 13 year old self couldn’t comprehend the meaning of her statement. At 17, I understood what she meant when I started an awareness program- The Project WE; and I’ve aspired to be a solution-doer and not a solution-commentator ever since. At 21, I started working on my education startup (OoB Communities) in hope that I’ll be able to change the way career counseling is dealt with in schools and colleges. While I was studying the market with the backdrop of my experience of working with multiple stakeholders, startups and schools at different levels in education sector startups for over 4 years, I realized that- solution is not a unifold concept. There are a series of stages that are involved in arriving at a solution right from understanding the problem, to formulating data and surveys, appropriate legitimization, regulation, implementation, and then evaluation. I also understood how the approach to a problem can not work in an isolated understanding of one sector alone, but by understanding how a few sectors can influence a few others. This is how my tryst with ‘connecting the dots’ concept began. I’ve always believed in the idea that overall development is associated with a plurality of ideas and ways of life. This kind of tolerance can be achieved only with the willingness to learn-unlearn-relearn. This willingness to experiment with different things and learn about my interests, I have gone whole hog and had my share of experiences which added color to my otherwise introverted nature. I love to write, read books, and discuss them with my family, friends and peers. Traveling has always been on top of my list. I find it rewarding to see and live the culture, place, people and local food. My dad and I practice Taekwondo to keep myself fit and healthy. My dog adds the brightest color to my life and is the best and the only audience who enjoys my never-ending speeches and my tone-deaf singing.
