This role is responsible for leading a consistent and proactive approach to the management of compliance and risks within North America ensuring policies are understood, risk controls are monitored and mitigation strategies are in place to manage identified risks.  Proactively network to aid organizational learning of new and innovative thinking around production and supply chain threats, compliance issues and risk management within Syngenta.  Establish best practice standards, risk management methodologies and tools to identify, describe and estimate the quantitative and qualitative compliance and/or risks affecting the business.  Interpret and help prioritize vulnerabilities and trends in order to support the region to make informed decisions. Lead the development of risk management capabilities in the region through the use of different techniques to ensure sustainable excellence in the management of risks. Ensure effective coordination and alignment between North America and Global Production & Supply, HSE, Quality, ERM and Security.

North America Risk Management Business Partner

Manage a team of procurement professionals who ensure several hundred people can navigate through the procurement functions and system transactions smoothly and effectively.  Drive process efficiencies, manage strengths to maximize performance, smoothly integrate acquisitions and exit divestitures, and provide knowledge transfer opportunities within and outside the team. Identify and rationalize best in class performance for Procurement. Ensure team self-directed projects align with division and corporate strategies.

Global Procurement Manager - Process Services

Responsible for global oversight of adherence to procurement and company policies and procedures and to ensure compliance with all federal, state/local and commercial contract laws and regulations.  Responsible for identifying procurement centric supply chain risks and identifying reasonable mitigating controls to minimize the risk impact.  Created risk and control matrix for risk mitigation processes including SOX, SOD, Conflict Mineral and other compliance items. Interfaced with Procurement management and staff along with line operational managers and provided procurement control advice and guidance. Developed a methodology for identifying and reporting fraud and excess risk. Also developed and delivered training on risk identification and mitigation; compliance of internal policies and external regulations.

Global Procurement Risk Manager

Assisted management, process stewards and the Board of Directors in assessing and improving Eastman’s system of internal controls to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of objectives. Planned, scoped, implemented and executed tasks required to complete audits and projects including the execution of complex global audits. Met with Division Management to discuss audit findings and gain agreement on management action plans. Partnered with audit clients to identify constructive and value-added solutions to address issues identified.

Staff Auditor (Corporate Audit Services)

Supervised group of 8 individuals whose primary functions were to audit freight invoices that were out of tolerance, provide freight rates to ensure sound business decisions could be made,  resolved contract and invoice discrepencies, and ensured accurate information was accessible for company personnel.  

Also supervised the third party warehouse audit team whose responsibilities included the independent auditing of warehouses, rail sidings and bulk terminals.  These audits ensured that Eastman's products are being managed properly and that no fraudulent activity took place. 

Accomplishments - 2005-2010 cost avoidance over 23 million dollars, increased electronic invoice/shipment record accuracy by 30%, transitioned group from different company to Eastman, decreased rate allocations to 0 dollars by end of 2006 and have maintained that accuracy.  Selected as Brand Amabassador for Supply Chain Logistics.  Created and delivered training both in person and via streaming media to over 400 Supply Chain team members.
