For 30 years, I’ve advised CEOs, boards and founders on the most important deals of their careers. I’ve closed 161 deals valued at $23 billion but that’s only part of the reason I’m a world class advisor. As a foundation, I have 3+ decades of deal experience – I’ve seen it all. I know the inner workings of Wall Street, the mysterious world of private equity and the meaningful impact main street business has on the economy – I’ve personally owned several businesses. My service ethic: I am 100% committed to my client's success, even if it means I must tell them to "walk away" from a bad deal (and lose out on a fee). My approach is simple: I objectively frame your situation, present realistic options, and advise on the best course of action – typically focused on maximizing value. My track record since 2012 is: 81% of the 75 deal engagements I took on closed. More importantly, here is why I'm unique as an advisor: 1. I’ve personally invested in private equity deals, so I know how they work (and how they don’t). I’ve written 6 and 7 figure checks to buy equity in companies I believed in. Most private equity investors invest other people’s money. I’ve put my money where my mouth is. My principal investing experience gives me a unique perspective on getting deals closed because I understand all sides. 2. I’ve owned businesses. In 2009, I bought a for-profit school that employed 63 FTEs. In 2015, I bought a $20 million behavioral health company with 190 FTEs; I sold it in 2021 by engaging – you guessed it – an investment banker. I have stood in the shoes of my clients unlike nearly any other adviser. I’ve spent most of my career in big cities but today I live in a small ski town in rural Colorado and spend as much time as I can playing outside.
