During this internship, I got really hands-on with the fish, whether that was putting on waiters and getting into the water with the fish or handling fish eggs. My regular tasks consisted of: 

- Sorting fish that were ready to spawn from those that weren't
- Sorting live fish eggs from dead ones
- Transferring fish from one building to the other
- Feeding the fish
- Sterilizing fertilized fish eggs

Intern

During this internship I worked at BYU’s  Student Athlete Building at their fueling station. The purpose of the fueling station is to provide the athletes with ready-to-eat snacks that will help fuel them in their performance. 

Each athlete fills out their order prior to coming into the fueling station. When they enter into the fueling station they either scan their fuel card or provide a number that is unique to each athlete, that is then entered onto a computer program which displays their order. For certain athletes an announcement pops up on the screen indicating if they have any food allergies. This helps to maintain the safety of the athlete and the availability of certain food items just for athletes with allergies. 

Some of my tasks consisted of restocking and organizing inventory, preparing snacks, greeting the athletes and giving them their order, and cleaning and sanitizing surfaces.

Utah Reclamation Mitigation and Conservation Commission

For decades, our natural waterways have been channelized for the purpose of making it easier to get water from one place to another for things like agriculture and other industrial purposes. Recently, though we have realized the importance of wetland habitats and allowing our waterways to have their natural curvature and floodplain. In 2016 a large section of East Hobble Creek in Springville, Utah, that was previously channelized, was restored to its natural wetland habitat.

During my internship with the Utah Reclamation Mitigation and Conservation Commission, I devised a research project where I compared the difference in density and diversity between the restored section of Hobble Creek and the section of Hobble Creek that remains channelized. My tasks consisted of setting up survey points, collecting data, compiling and analyzing the data, and then presenting the data in a final project to an Environmental Science class at Provo High School.

Dedicated student that enjoys being physically active and spending time outdoors. Internship experience in sports nutrition, wildlife conservation research, and aquaculture.
