Global Forum Shaping the Future

Global Forum: Shaping the Future has been an annual, international, high-level, not-for-profit think-tank since more than 30 years. It is dedicated to addressing the main technological, economic, social, societal, political and ethical issues and challenges that affect the evolution of our digital society.

Every year, the Global Forum gathers some 250 participants, including international experts, national, regional and local policy makers, private and public companies and organisations, academics, NGOs from around the world.

Wavemakers United

Wavemakers United is a community of students, young professionals, and athletes with a passion for water. As a youth organisation we focus on local challenges while having a global reach. Our aim is to contribute to the UN SDGs and involve as many youngsters as possible. 

Ever since its first event in South Africa, during the 2018 Volvo Ocean Race, the Wavemakers United Foundation kept a strong and meaningful connection to South Africa. Since then, South African Wavemakers have shown ambitious and inspiring water action. During the 2023 Ocean Race Wavemakers officially joined forces with Stellenbosch University in the first ever Chapter of the Wavemakers United Foundation.
