I knew having a personal brand would help when I quit my job.

I just didn’t expect it would help THIS much.

Since going solo:

→ Strangers are DMing to ask how they can support
→ Brands and clients are reaching out to collaborate
→ I get access to tools I’d usually pay for and get paid to talk about them (a dream?)

This is just a glimpse of what's happening behind the scenes.

There’s a whole ripple effect that starts when people actually know what you do.

And when they trust you're actually a sound person :D

Some still think LinkedIn is a waste of time.
I 1000% disagree.

A few hours a week = new friends, new ideas, new opportunities.

Worth it? I think so.

But 99% of your network is ex-colleagues who couldn't care less.

Of course they’re not engaging!

Here’s the fix:

It's actually amazing that LinkedIn lets you do this.

Connect with people who your content is actually meant for.

LinkedIn lets you connect with ~150-180 people per week.

No note needed — those often lower your acceptance rate anyway.

If your content is good, you’ll get more engagement.

Because the right people are finally seeing it.

I just sent out my fifth Substack post about acting out of fear and the art of saying no.

I haven't really announced that my Substack exists, but now you know :D

I've been sharing the honest behind-the-scenes of quitting my 9-to-5 there and it's been a very refreshing, long-form platform and channel I've been enjoying a lot (link to subscribe in the comments).

The past month was a bit crazy. I'd say good crazy.

Quick recap:

→ Offboarded from my full-time job as a founding marketer

→ Had 10 discovery calls and loooots of coffee chats <3

→ Consulted 9 founders and marketers on personal branding & marketing strategy

→ Built my first ever AI agent with Jacob Bank (founder of Relay.app) & got SO much amazing feedback!

→ Went on a 10-day workation in Greece that was meant to be a vacation (do I cry or laugh about that? haha)

→ Gave a talk about event planning at the Notion summer party in Berlin

→ Gave my first online workshop for 12BRAVE on lead generation

→ Published my first sponsored posts (so much fun!)

pov you're on vacation but everything reminds you of work 😀

Being a marketer at an early stage startup teaches you one thing fast:

It's not about how much you can do.

It's about knowing what NOT to do.

You’ll be pulled in 100 directions.
Everyone has a ton of ideas.

And "knows" how to do your job better (yeah sure :D)

From experience, doing more won't be the answer.

Doing the right things – and ignoring the rest – is your only way to survive.

To do that, you need 3 unsexy but critical skills.

👉 Having a strong opinion

You can't be “neutral”. You don't have to always be right but remember:

YOU are the best person to make the call, so just follow the research and your gut.

👉 Saying no (and sticking to it)

Every “yes” costs you focus. Guard your time like it's budget.

👉 Having or developing taste

You can’t outsource this. You have to know when something’s off. Or not good enough.

These are muscles you build by doing.
And failing. And feeling stupid.

And doing it all again.

They're not talked about enough. 
But they’ll make or break you.

I built a website for my new community launch/anyway in a day.

And it was shockingly easy because of Framer 😍

I’m not a designer, so I never gave Framer a try before because it felt intimidating.

But I was SO wrong.

First of all, they have an amazing educational academy with videos about everything you’d ever need to know.

Second of all, whenever I didn’t know something, I figured it out in 5 min with Google + ChatGPT :D

I watched 5 tutorials and then dove right into building and customising, starting from a beautiful template.

In this video I’ll walk you through the whole process – from branding → structure → final launch.

I know this community for solopreneurs is needed, and I have a TONNE of ideas, so I needed to get something up fast. And voilà — it’s here (!!)

And I’m obsessed.

Content teams around the globe are expected to do 100x more work with less.

Here are my 2 cents:

It’s easier than ever to create content, yes.

To blast it out there.
Everywhere.

But as the volume of AI slop increases, what do you think will happen?

We can already see the trend:

People CRAVE authentic, opinionated, expertise-led content.

When everyone zigs, we zag. 

How do we do that?

By finding people with actual topic expertise to write helpful, engaging content.

Not outsourcing everything under the sun to AI, even if it can help with some bits.

The goal isn't to blast out lots of half-assed content hoping some of the people you reach will convert.

The goal is to create helpful content for your ideal customers.

To be always top of mind should they (or their bestie) ever need your service :D

Want to build better habits without relying on motivation?

Try habit stacking.

One habit triggers the next one, and so on.

Here’s how I do it:

I use an app called "Routinery" on my Apple Watch to guide my morning and evening routines.

Morning:
↳ Drink a glass of water
↳ Check in on my journal and habits
↳ Make a tea
↳ Charge my watch
↳ "Eat the frog" AKA start with the most urgent + important task

Evening:
↳ Put my phone on charge
↳ Check in on my calendar, confirm top priorities for tomorrow
↳ Check in on tomorrow's content
↳ 15 minutes of reading

It removes decision fatigue.
AKA I don’t have to think about what to do next.

Plus, I don't get as distracted by my phone (because I do the routine from my watch).

Small wins build momentum.

One habit leads to another, and before you know it, you're building new healthy habits.

Job searching messes with your head.

→ You refresh your inbox 20 times a day.
→ You question your worth.
→ You get ghosted after 5 rounds of interviews.

And somehow you still have to “push through"...

It's brutal 🥲

I quit my 9 to 5 to help marketers and founders build their personal brands.

But when I last applied for a job 2 years ago though I had:
→ 10 applications
→ 8 interviews
→ 3 offers
→ 1 yes

I know the market has changed.

But if I had to look for a job again, here’s what I’d do:

1. I’d get loud about the actual outcomes I can bring.

My biggest pet peeve is generic CVs where it's obvious person does not care about the role a not the industry. “I’m super motivated” won’t cut it either. Talk about results & impact of relevant past work.

2. I’d mention on my profile loud and clear that I’m looking for opportunities.

People can’t refer you if they don’t know you’re open. Put it on your profile. Post about it. Talk about past projects. 

3. I’d set up job alerts on LinkedIn from day 1.

It’s boring advice, but it works.
I found my last 3 jobs because I saw the role in an automated email from LinkedIn :D

4. I’d remind myself I’m not my job.

The rejections will come. And they will hurt.
But often it’s not about you.

It's budgets. It’s timing. It's bias.
It’s internal mess you’ll never see.

Detach your self-worth from the outcome.

5. I’d keep creating.

Even while waiting.
Even while doubting everything.

Always keep building and working towards something, for your sanity.
Anything that makes you feel alive & proud: social posts, own website, a mini-project.

It helps. I promise.

People keep telling me:

“You must have so much time now that you’re self-employed!”

I do have more freedom, yes.

But IYKYK — I’m not the type to sit around waiting for things to happen.

I create opportunities.
I start new projects.

Sometimes... too many.

(Cancelling a few upcoming client projects today because I very much overestimated my capacity)

Call me dramatic, but I schedule everything:

writing, deep work, workouts, workshops, 1:1s, walks, you name it.

Still learning to prioritise better and create space for what makes me feel most fulfilled (baby steps).

So yes, my calendar looks... intense.

But it actually keeps me sane and helps me see when life is out of balance.
