Prof Dr Mariano (Pitòsh) Heyden is Professor of Strategy & International Business at the Monash Business School in Australia, where he also serves as Director of the PhD Program in the Department of Management. Dr Heyden holds a PhD from Erasmus University and has over 15 years of teaching and facilitation experience in both industry and academia. He has received over AU$700k in international and domestic research funding over his career, including the prestigious Australian Research Council’s Discovery Early Career Research Award (DECRA-17). His research tackles the characteristics of senior business leaders that enable innovation and change, appearing in internationally-recognized journals such as Journal of Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, Research Policy, Organization Studies, The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Journal of Management Studies; as well as book chapters by Palgrave-Macmillan, Routledge, and Springer. Dr Heyden's expertise is regularly sought from international peer-refereed journals, as well as funding bodies such as the National Science Foundation of the US and the Australian Research Council. His research-informed thought leadership has featured in ABC News, The Australian, Business Insider, Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, The Conversation, Sydney Morning Herald, Manage Magazine, and the World Economic Forum. Professor Heyden is a Trustee of the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (UK), was an elected Representative-at-Large of the Strategic Management Society (US), and is a Global Representative for the Strategy Division of the Academy of Management (US). He serves as Senior Editor at Journal of Business Research and sits on numerous academic editorial boards (e.g. Journal of Management, Corporate Governance: International Review, Journal of Management Studies, Australian Journal of Management).
