In this role, I create and manage outstanding content and client experience to inspire more people to take action to address the world's biggest social and environmental challenges. I tell impact stories across our digital channels, including owning organic and paid social media on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, increasing our owned following by 460% in my first six months by building strong, unique social presences for our key leaders.

I contribute to the development of thought leadership and client guides projects related to philanthropy and social impact including writing, editing, publishing and preparing the activation plan and assets as well as generate reports to demonstrate the impact of our activities and achievement of our KPIs.

Content & Communication Specialist -- Social Impact

After managing social media platforms for clients for several years, I started creating video content for my personal TikTok in July 2021. On my channel, I talk about my life living in London as an American and highlight my hobbies and passions including reading and F1. Fast forward to today and I have grown my account to nearly 7,000 followers and built an online and in-person F1 fan community of 200 members called Zoom Zoom.

I also offer freelance social media management and digital strategy services to small businesses and startups.

In this role, I helped digital advertising and emerging tech companies tell their stories in the press. Together with my team, I developed and executed successful PR and digital campaigns by identifying interesting news angles, drafting compelling copy, and cultivating relationships with journalists across leading technology outlets and verticals, including TechCrunch, Morning Brew, Digiday, and Metro UK.

As an account manager, I liaised directly with my clients and managed internal timelines and processes. Additionally, I led on the development of the company's social media program for clients, including overseeing the strategy for social campaigns, developing and implementing internal processes, training staff, and pitching for new business.

Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

My main responsibility included developing and implementing a social strategy to showcase Australian artists and raise brand awareness of the Season, including the capture and creation of video and graphic assets and day-to-day management of all owned channels. The highlight of this role was attending Edinburgh Fringe on behalf of the High Commission and working with comedians, musicians, and artists to facilitate the cultural diplomacy objectives for the Season.

Outside of social media, I also collaborated with the development team to ensure the smooth delivery of stakeholder engagement events for government leaders, donors, and celebrities surrounding key moments, such as BBC Proms, including managing guests lists, designing invitations, and overseeing day-of event execution.

The UK/ Australia Season was a year-long cultural arts exchange between the two nations. I joined the team on a contract-basis to support the initiative during their busiest season.

BolognaBookPlus

I had the opportunity to join the BolognaBookPlus team ahead of their first in-person Fair, building up the organization's social following and establishing their brand online.

In the eight weeks leading up to the Fair, I created and posted consistent social content across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram in an effort to drive ticket sales and establish the BBPlus name within the broader publishing conversation. During the Fair, I managed in-the-moment social content for Twitter and Instagram, including live tweeting speaker events, posting content with exhibitors, and engaging with event attendees.

-162% increase in followers across social accounts
-450k reach across Twitter and Instagram during BBPlus 2022

Laurens Group

Following the 2020 election, I had the opportunity to work with Push Digital’s CEO to launch a sister strategic communications group. That firm became Laurens Group, which officially launched in January 2021.

As with most start-ups, my responsibilities were split between client services and internal management. Externally, I served as an account director on several client accounts across varying industries developing statewide and national public relations, brand reputation, and crisis management campaigns. To execute these campaigns, I managed a team of three account executives and liaised with our creative and advertising teams at Push Digital.

And internally, I managed our branding and marketing strategies—including the launch and production of a crisis communications podcast—in addition to overseeing our business development efforts and day-to-day firm operations. 

Second to seeing the firm successfully launch, I am most proud of securing news articles and op-ed placements for clients in The Post & Courier, Fox News, The Charleston Regional Business Journal, The Moultrie News, The Charleston City Paper, SC Business News, and Brewbound.com as well as booking TV news interviews with a number of regional outlets.

One of my passions in life is helping other women succeed. Through this part-time role, I connected with young female professionals across the U.S. and helped them start and advance in their careers. As the PN Coordinator, I offered professional development consultations for members and planned and executed educational events as well as worked to build out their membership base and continue to grow their young professionals community.

In a campaign cycle when most of the world was at a standstill, digital communications and advertising flourished. From the first day I joined Push through Election Day, I managed between five and eight client relationships simultaneously, including two successful Congressional re-elect campaigns and two successful Congressional open seat campaigns as well as national campaigns for PACs, interest groups, and committees.

Working with our creative and advertising teams, I innovatively told client stories in crowded markets by developing integrated multi-channel digital strategies and executing social media and paid advertising campaigns, with budgets ranging from as little as $500/month to as large as $150,000/month for Facebook, CTV, PreRoll, and Display. I also ran cohesive email fundraising strategies, raising over $250,000 for candidates in Q2 and Q3 of 2020.

Internally, I contributed to firm business development, training, and marketing efforts.

Purple Strategies

At Purple, I had the opportunity to delve deeper into client issues and learn more about new industries than I’ve ever been able to do before. Through this role, I served as a campaign coordinator on multiple corporate reputation projects managing team administration and external deliverables, contributing to the development of strategic communications solutions and public affairs proposals for Fortune 50 companies

When I found myself with extra time on my hands during work hours, I reached out to our Director of New Business and Marketing. This was the best decision I could have made. Following this, I spent many of these additional hours at Purple coordinating the creation of business development proposals and pitches and developing an internal social media plan to relaunch Purple social channel efforts.

Through both my internal and external roles, I worked across a variety of industries, including energy, labor, food & beverage, technology, and transportation.

Governor Larry Hogan, Maryland

I had the honor of serving as the deputy press secretary to Governor Larry Hogan—the most popular governor in the country—in his official office during the 2018 re-election cycle. My day-to-day responsibilities included social media posting and management for the Governor’s 200,000 followers, media relations, daily news clips, and general constituent communications. 

I am most proud of working with the Lieutenant Governor—Boyd Rutherford—in my downtime to fully establish his brand and build his following. In eight months, through eye-catching graphics, engaging video series, and establishing a consistent brand narrative I increased his social following by over 25%.
