As a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) and Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Coordinator at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, I engage in information gathering, problem identification, diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up for veterans with various mental health and substance use disorders. I utilize a wide range of evidence-based counseling interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, prolonged exposure, and cognitive processing therapy. I also demonstrate sensitivity to diversity and possess multicultural counseling skills. I hold a Master's degree in Psychology (Clinical Mental Health Counseling) from Texas A&M University–Central Texas, where I completed coursework in counseling theories, techniques, assessment, ethics, research, and multicultural issues. I also have experience in working within different settings, such as hospital, tele-mental health, corrections, and vocational, with adult, child, and adolescent populations. I am passionate about helping others overcome their challenges and achieve their goals, and I am committed to continuing my professional development and learning. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), a NBCC/NAADAC Mentor, and a Heroic Hearts Project Ambassador.
