I am a Leadership Coach & Mentoring Professional with board level experience and expertise in Corporate, Government, Armed Forces and the Private Sector. I am currently the Director & Founder of Mark Ashby Consulting. I am a proud Indigenous Australian (Guringai - Saltwater People) & I hold a Master’s Degree in Counter Terrorism. I have previously advised clients & operated as a team leader in the highly dangerous private security sector in Iraq for 11 years on “tier 1” projects. During my time in the Middle East, I was attached to the US Department of Defence and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on high threat protection, critical incident awareness and prevention through the unique tools that I have developed. I spent four years ensuring the safety and security of Australian Diplomats and Politicians as a close protection team leader at the Australian Embassy in Baghdad, during my years in the Middle East I carried out 1600 successful missions over 41 rotations. I was recently a Senior Risk Consultant & Advisor at GMRisk Group, where I provided corporate risk consultancy, crisis awareness and risk management. Earlier, I built a military career having served as a member of Sydney’s Elite Parachute Unit 3RAR, with operational deployments to East Timor. What I do is coach & mentor individuals & teams to become more confident, to overcome metal obstacles, to reach their potential, to excel in their arena’s and to achieve the unachievable. I teach them to understand their strengths, to back their abilities and convert them into not just becoming successful people, but outstanding people. My gift is getting the best out of individuals and teams, to help and guide them to excel where they are unsure of themselves, to help them understand that complex can be easily converted into simple. I love nothing more than helping people achieve greatness, unlocking their potential and hesitant mindset that has previously held them back. Once my clients give themselves over to my mindset, system and experience, they will never be the same. What I teach can’t be learned or replicated in the office or boardroom, it comes from decades of experience, excelling in dangerous, difficult and unforgiving countries, learning the true meaning of inner resilience which enabled me to reach the highest levels of success. I worked and survived in high pressure environments that the average person would struggle to comprehend, where every step can literally be your last, where I truly learned what being part of a high performing team was all about.
