As a freelance designer since 1997, I’ve worked with some great people in some interesting places. Like Firenze on a scout/buying mission for Italian shop fitting products to sitting in F1’s Jackie Stewart’s office working through a Jaguar Racing design brief. I usually work with agencies or contractors for their clients often with the initial pitch to win the work, with some contracts spanning many Years, firms like Casio 3yrs, Yamaha 4yrs, Gurit 4 yrs, Smeg 2yrs, Bank of NY 5yrs, Temerity Jones 5+. (Some contracts 500K). My work is not only 3D, including visualizing walkthrough animations, but I was Commissioned to produce renaissance pen and ink artwork for Mentor surgical products. A job I did for Yamaha Pianos for Tony Beresford at A,S and K, led to this quote from him ‘The design visual for the Clavinova Piano suite was so slick and had such a lush glossy wood floor they ended up replacing the whole 4th floor of Harrods with a real wood floor’! Over the past few years I've moved into XR, it seems a logical progression, with years spent building 3d models and environments in cyberspace for CAD and visuals. I feel I am uniquely placed to move into this emerging market. The AR/VR world is moving quickly and it's difficult to know what route to take, so far I have a basic grasp of coding and familiarity with Unity. I’m creating bespoke Metaverse spaces with Spatial and VR/AR experiences with Vectary, I have also mastered the new real-time media program Twinmotion (Unreal engine). With green issues more important than ever I say ‘build your experience virtually for web or headset’ rather than incur real build costs in time, money and resources creating a big carbon footprint.
