I was responsible for Symantec.clouds Email AntiVirus and AntiSpam product suites and will offer tactical support for our other Email product lines as required.

MessageLabs

Looking after the product life cycle of MessageLabs email service which includes the 2 main products, anti virus and anti spam, ensuring the successful delivery of these services through the development and implementation of initiatives which proactively support sales and marketing activities.  Work with client’s technical teams to understand their current challenges, identify their current needs and concerns and prioritize an approach as to how best address specific issues related to email security.  Liaise with Product Marketing in order to communicate with customers, management, internal departments and vendors in accordance with corporate goals.

Product Manager

I was a Viruslab Engineer who created and ran a new team, AV Operations, who looks after the daily operations of Skeptic, MessageLabs proprietary heuristic scanner and 3 commercial Anti-Virus products. I was responsible for analyzing new malware and provide detection and alert stakeholders. Shared samples with other trusted peers in companies such as Microsoft, Trend, Symantec and McAfee and also created a virus lab for the testing of malware in a safe environment. Additionally I provided 4th level support when requested. 

Part of my role was to write training for new employees into the company and present internal courses around the anti-virus industry, highlighting MessageLabs rise in the market due to superior technology and penetration into a small niche market. I provided leadership and direction to marketing associates to guide the creation of marketing materials and ensure congruence with other product marketing collateral culminating becoming a media contact for all aspects of the media to provide interviews and press releases surrounding new viruses, media includes websites such as the BBC, The Register, Silicon.com, ZDNet, vnunet.com and the Guardian, numerous broadsheets and daily Newspapers and interviews for Radio 5, Forth FM (Edinburgh) and BBC Radio Gloucestershire. 

Selected Contributions:
Created the Anti-Virus Operations Team separating the AV development team.
Successfully provided training and processes which are still in practice.
Was one of the companies media contacts providing press releases and interviews and aiding in the writing of other marketing collateral generally evangelising about the Anti-Virus service.
Was a source of technical information for all areas of the company and was used in sales and customer services calls to talk through the Anti-Virus product.

Worked within a team environment to provide 1st line customer support to Star Internets UK SMB to Enterprise customer base.

Demonstrated immediate talents upon hire and excelled quickly to become recognised by management as key member of the helpdesk team.
Within months was providing 2nd tier like level support within my role resulting in closure of calls within minutes instead of hours.
Provided training to other members of the team to enable them to problem solve prior to escalation of calls.
