I am a creative practitioner, senior lecturer and practice-based Fine Art doctoral researcher at Swansea College of Art UWTSD where I am currently studying for my Ph.D. I teach on the Art and Design Foundation, MA Visual Communication and MA Contemporary Dialogues programmes. I also teach Contextual Studies to undergraduates, am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (for which I also mentor new applicants), and I advise the university on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the art and design subject areas. My creative practice involves the conception and creation of art and installations through the mediums of AI, digital, video, photography, text and sound. My work currently explores philosophical questions around the affectual anxiety created by emerging digital technology. Through previously working in the advertising industry for 25 years, 15 with a top 30 integrated agency, I gained extensive experience of broadcast, print and digital communications as an art director, copywriter and creative director. I have also worked as a Graphic Designer and Studio Manager in the print and publishing media. I have been a visiting lecturer on the BA(Hons) Graphic Communication course at Cardiff Metropolitan University, a regular speaker at the annual Creative Futures conferences held at the University of South Wales, and at the NEXUS Teaching Conferences at UWTSD. I joined academia eleven years ago where I have been teaching and practicing ever since. I’m interested in working on art projects, exhibitions, campaigns, lectures, workshops and commissions.
