Huddersfield Students'​ Union

As a Huddersfield Students' Union trustee and board member, I’m on-hand to contribute suggestions to how the Union can continue to fulfil its important charitable remit to positively impact the lives of all students - as well as wider society.

Alongside other board members and trustees I draw on my professional experience and general enthusiasm for progressive action to feed into operational, finance and student engagement strategy, offer constructive scrutiny and provide encouragement to student leaders 👍

This also includes supporting the HudLets team who focus on providing advisory services around property and accommodation options for students.

The Media Centre

I'm a non-executive director and board member of the Media Centre, a not-for-profit organisation with an important mission to provide opportunity, support and a community environment to the region's digital and creative businesses.

The Centre provides workplace and support services to over 200 SMEs while also delivering on its social enterprise remit with a wealth of third sector, artistic, cultural and creative events.

Along with other members of the board and NED advisors, it's my role to make constructive contributions to support the Centre's continued success and its remit to be a phenomenal resource and friend to creative businesses and the wider community.

Blueclaw

I was marketing director at Blueclaw – a demonstrably awesome SEO, content marketing, PPC and social & PR agency.

I headed up the internal marketing team, utilising the full marketing mix (and my natural appeal as the most Scottish person in Yorkshire) to introduce more great brands to while also performing a strategic role for a number of key clients.

In 2019 we won Best Use of Search at the European Search Awards, and in 2018 we were recognised with big wins at the European Search Awards, Northern Digital Awards, Drum Search Awards and in December 2017 we won Best Use of Search at the UK Search Awards.

Rather more importantly, we were on the Recommended Agency Register due to positive feedback from our clients.

I was marketing director at Attercopia - a full-service marketing agency built to help SMEs, major brands and international powerhouses take their digital marketing to the next level.

Headed up the digital marketing delivery team (consisting of SEO, PPC, social and content marketing experts) in multiple locations across the country while also running Attercopia's internal marketing function.

It was my job as Head of Marketing to spread the word about the company's effective, actionable and sensibly-priced software through any and all channels, while also providing leadership with regards to wider business performance and sales operations.

As marketing lead it was my goal to drive the SynGro message worldwide with clarity, commitment and candour....and I did!

Delivering all aspects of offline and online marketing, press and PR was my responsibility in advancing the RAD Software brand.

My role was to use intelligent, outgoing marketing strategy to foster new client connections and boost wider understanding of our software's game-changing potential to manufacturers,wholesalers and distributors- sometimes a tough crowd when new technology is concerned.

From web content, event design + hosting and marketing collateral generation through to blogging, SEO and community-building, my holistic and complementary approach to engaging with industry generated results.

Packed room at the #MarketingLeadersForum by Clarion Gaming - and plenty of familiar faces. Even some people I like.

Highlight so far was Scott Newton 's v data rich session using Brandwatch data on online reputation, AI visibility and the need for brands to actually be specific about what they're about rather than dealing in vagueness 🔥

So far comments on my daft hair choices are 50% positive  50% negative but I don't hold grudges - especially if anyone wants to talk about ICS-digital  's multilingual SEO, content, PPC and translation capabilities 💁‍♂️

Lovely for the team to be nominated for two very different #digitalPR campaigns at the #UKSearchAwards :)

These campaigns are up against lots of similarly excellent projects, which makes being shortlisted even more of a plus - at a time when real tenacity and creativity is needed to earn attention, coverage and links 🔥 

Consistency in digital PR is no mean feat but the team has developed campaign formats and (of course) relationships to make a substantial difference for clients in all manner of competitive and highly regulated sectors - increasingly as part of a full service SEO offering - https://lnkd.in/enzpCf6j 🌍

DAY TWO of #ConnectedCommerce with Sarah Kingham  outlining today's focus on digital commerce, retail media, #agenticsearch and local, national and global ecommerce marketing.

One of the more enjoyable things about working at ICS-digital is the mix of industries we work in, and the mind-shift needed to switch between different sector events.

This evening and tomorrow I'll be at the #MarketingLeadersForum from Clarion Gaming before rinsing and refreshing my brain to join Matteo Fabiano at the #ConnectedCommerce event to discuss everything to do with #ecommerceSEO, retail content, #FMCG translation and address big questions like 'what is the future of margarine?'.
