As part of Climate Technologies Pty Ltd, a leading manufacturer in the industry, Bonaire has expanded its reach to include a group business entity in the USA known as Bonaire USA LLL. 

Climate Technologies boasts an extensive distribution network across Australia and the USA, reaching customers through a wide network of dealers and distributors. 

Climate Technology Australia is owned by Symphony Limited, a publicly listed company in India with a market capitalization value of US$2 billion. With a rich history dating back to 1939, Symphony is globally recognized as a leader in evaporative cooling technology. 

In my role as the National Financial Controller/CFO, I assumed responsibility for managing, controlling, and facilitating end-to-end finance functions for both the Australian and US operations of Bonaire. Leveraging my expertise in SAP FICO and leading a team of accountants, I ensured the seamless execution of financial processes and compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, I diligently provided quarterly and annual IFRS financials to Symphony Ltd in India, enabling the company to meet its obligations as a publicly listed entity.

Working with Bonaire and Climate Technologies, I gained invaluable experience in overseeing finance operations within a dynamic and globally recognized organization. By driving efficiency and maintaining financial compliance, I contributed to the continued success of the company and its commitment to delivering exceptional heating and cooling solutions to customers worldwide.

I joined Wattly Pty Ltd as the Group Financial Controller in August 2016 following a successful selection process highlighting my capability to provide strategic solutions to complex business challenges. As an integral executive team member, my role involved diverse responsibilities, allowing me to work independently with autonomy, flexibility, and trust.

☛  Instrumental in reducing risk and elevating confidence in an NSW-based business purchase. Conducted due diligence and analysis and provided recommendations based on financials and data from the existing business owners.

☛  Accurately projected the future profit and loss position with 90% accuracy, significantly improving the quality of business decision-making.

☛ Entrusted to authorise million-dollar business banking operations.

Providing solutions to numerous small business owners and managing client relationships were core to the role that relied heavily on communications, strong technical expertise, a good knowledge of Cloud accounting apps Xero, MYOB and QBO, and the capacity to conceive and produce business performance and dashboard reports in a clear, at-a-glance format. 

✅  Unique characteristics of the role: 

☛  Capacity to multi-task was imperative as the role dealt with small business clients while concurrently acting as a financial controller. 

✅  Selected accomplishments:

☛ Helped a client seek a refund by recommending that a 20% vehicle down-payment to a dealership was not considered in the chattel mortgage agreement. 

☛ Secured a $40,000 tax refund after identifying over-reported incomes from erroneous data duplication and advising the client to re-lodge a tax return with genuine figures.

My notable contributions to the successful ERP implementation at Monier caught the attention of the Managing Director of Focal Point. Collating data and managing financial accounting and reporting was a challenge, requiring a cool head, tenacity, resilience, and a willingness to find solutions, work through complexities, roll up the sleeves and get results.

☛  Elevated cash flow by PGK 3M by introducing a credit analysis function, decreasing outstanding receivables from 60 to 45 days and reducing risk from marginal customers. 

☛  Recovered PGK 1.5M from group companies through reconciliations and error rectifications on general ledger and intercompany accounts. 

☛  Improved current ratio to 2.50 through efficient controls.

HLB NIUGINI CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS

Offered solutions and business insights to a wide range of clients with many landowners subcontracted to Oil Search Limited. 

✅  Core skillset required:

Multitasking, reporting, team supervision and management, client relationships, representation of clients in board meetings and bank loan meetings, contract negotiations, accounting and technical skills, communication strengths, the capacity to deal with regulatory agencies and external audit bodies (Deloitte, PwC and KPMG).

✅  Greatest challenges of the role:

Regular changes to leadership, and landowners unable to fight for legitimate benefits. Played a pivotal role to ensure landowner interests were safe-guarded and protected and in some cases, managed finances through clear authority granted in writing. 

✅  Selected accomplishments:

☛  Exposed a service client’s contractual payment error with Oil Search, that was later settled out of court in the client’s favour for a considerable sum. 

☛  Produced a future cash flow forecast that secured funds for an engineering client to purchase plant and equipment. The financial institution, initially unwilling to lend, later granted a PGK 500,000 finance loan based on the forecasts. 

☛  Acted in the role of Financial Controller for 15+ business clients, supervising a team of nine national staff. Provided training in MYOB and Excel and client-specific industry functions. Through mentorship and training, supported by rewards and incentives, all staff were retrained and competent in handling the rigours of the role.
