After 15 years working for big companies, last year I decided to take a leap and pursue my lifelong dream of entrepreneurship. Never one to do anything halfway, I jumped into two massive challenges exploring and solving problems that have the potential for high social impact. CampusEvolve is leveraging the power of generative AI to help college students navigate the thrilling an overwhelming task of completing a college degree. We are building a holistic advising assistant that gives students on-demand access to coaching and support that is personalized based on their unique background and goals. The hard problem to solve here is maintaining accuracy and relevancy over a broad and complex knowledge base using state-of-the-art language models and techniques. ProSocial is a virtual social coaching platform, aiming to connect people with Autism and other ND, to form real lasting friendships. The challenge here is more structural than technical. There is a massive disconnect between demand for social groups in the autistic community (long-wait lists, limited availability) and supply, with many different types of therapists interested in offering groups but unsure of how to match participants and monetize services. Both of these problems are near and dear to my heart. Both of these problems are challenging to solve and, I believe, worth the effort. I'm filled with gratitude that I have the opportunity to learn, grow, and work on these challenges, no matter the outcome. Please reach out if you'd like to learn more about either of my projects.
