It is interesting how you are led to opportunities; however it is what you do with those opportunities that can make a difference. Born and raised in Leeton NSW by my parents that migrated to Australia from Italy at a young age. I was surrounded by small family business owners and from that a hard work ethic was immanently instilled in me. During my schooling career I developed a passion for business and marketing. After finishing year 12 I moved away to complete tertiary education and acquired a Diploma in Business Management, Advanced Diploma in Marketing at the Australian Business Academy and a Bachelor of Communications at the University of Canberra. My education and passion for business and marketing led me to a diverse seventeen-year career path that includes · Programming assistant at Southern Cross Ten in Canberra · Marketing and sport sponsorship agency working with national brands in marketing, events and sponsorship. · Managing events and marketing for a hospitality company in Melbourne’s South Wharf. After a decade of education and experience in Canberra, ACT and Melbourne VIC, I decided to return to Leeton with the opportunity to manage the marketing and advertising for the family business that was founded by my parents in 1981. Since returning to Leeton in 2012 I have engaged in many community organisations and groups such as the Leeton Business Chamber, Friends of the Club Committee for Leeton Soldiers Club and currently Leeton Health Services Action Committee. After taking some time off while my children were young, I returned to the workforce as a contractor for Leeton Business Chamber, organising and facilitating major events such as the Leeton Business Awards and their major economic driver and shop local promotions during the Christmas period. During this time of community engagement and connection to industry and businesses through the Leeton Business chamber, it has become evident that professionals that relocated to Leeton are not retained within the organisation or the regional location for much longer than the initial contract period. Qualitative research into the this revealed that access to suitable community integration programs for relocating professionals into our regional community is severely lacking. Wanting to showcase our beautiful community to newcomers and assist our local employers to retain skilled professionals I decided to create a professional support service to assist with community integration of skilled professionals and employee , that is Localise You.
