My interest and expertise spans AI, design, product, and strategy. I happen to be particularly into early stage startups (and questionable analogies, like the following). In my mind, success in business is somewhat similar to success in rock climbing. You have the problem of route selection, that is, setting meaningful goals and strategies. Then you have to prepare, create a plan for execution and safety nets. If you’re pushing beyond your comfort zone, or trying to do something new, it helps to have a guide to facilitate your team. Most importantly, while you’re performing on the wall, it’s all in your hands - between you and the rock, or between you and the market. Recognizing this, I’ll use every tool in my crag bag to make sure you’re set up to top out, and then cheer like mad from the base of the mountain! I previously led Product and Design at IBM, Kinaxis and Lotus Medical, and co-founded Postcard to help people travel more and better. One recent exciting adventure was at Element AI, where, as employee #17, I co-founded and grew the Design team to 10 people, and created and led the Human-AI Interaction team. Now I'm working on an AI upskilling project and actively building life infrastructure to prevent burnout. I believe in leadership through influence, not authority; flat orgs; and making things people love. I aim to make a difference in the world through technology-enabled kindness.
