This sparked my journey to deeply understand their condition and the broader world of neurodiversity. Little did I know that a decade later, I would be diagnosed with Autism and ADHD too.

Yesterday I trialed a new structure and new content for the online Introduction to Neurodiversity Awareness in work training course I deliver monthly for GovPD 

I've been paying attention to the questions I hear from delegates time and again, to the thing they arrive believing they need to understand and to the influence that content on social media has on both the people wanting to understand how to support neurodivergent people and those diagnosed or identifying as neurodivergent in the workplace. 

Develivering a full day 9:30 - 4:00pm of training, information and advice is a big task. 

Interestingly aside from the comments I'm sharing here which I almost missed as I was wrapping up the course I was told 2 other things. 

One from a delegate who'd missed some content due to a meeting who I spent time with after the course who said 


"I'll be honest the thought of a full day, online, listening to something talk about neurodiversity didn’t fill me with excitement. But the day has flown by, your energy and delivery have been professional and full of energy,from start to finish and how you manage to engage everyone is incredible". 


The other comment came from my wife who often hears me delivering sessions while she studies who said 

"I don't know what's changed but you sound like you again, it's really nice to hear"


So what changed?

• I delivered a course that:

• that didn't focus on labels, condition definitions or spotting symptoms or behaviours

• but crucially one that without judgement, blame or accusation have people the understanding and tools to feel like they know how to support colleagues better.
