Matthew Otubu is a Strategic Communications Lead at the Cabinet Office, where he leads on the Africa programmes in the international branch of the Government Communication Service. He leads an expert team delivering consultancy projects to build the strategic communications and campaigns capability of partner and allied governments overseas, by sharing best practice in line with UK security, defence, development and foreign policy objectives. He previously worked on advocacy and election campaigns in Europe (Austria, Czechia, France, Lithuania, Romania, Switzerland, and the UK); and in Africa (Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zimbabwe). Matthew is also the Founder and Convener of Black Politicos, a new network to support and spotlight black professionals working in public policy and public affairs across the UK. ➕ SOCIAL ACTION: In addition, Matthew is proud to serve as a Board Member for Mission 44 – the charitable foundation launched by Sir Lewis Hamilton to transform the lives of young people from underserved communities by supporting bold organisations, leaders and ideas. He also serves as a Board Member for NCG – the leading nationwide group of seven colleges enabling social mobility and economic prosperity through exceptional further and higher education. He previously volunteered with young people and local communities in the UK and Africa; and served as a Board Member for Restless Development – the global NGO for youth-led development.
