Matthias is the Founder and CEO of CloudsineAI (fka Banff Cyber), an established cybersecurity startup from Singapore.  Since 2012, the team has successfully built and commercialised various security products to help companies secure their web, cloud and GenAI applications from cyber attacks. 

Our base platform, the WebOrion Security Stack is built on 2 patents and is based on the NIST Cyber Security Framework to defend enterprise and government customers from cyber attacks.  This includes using AI technologies such as deep learning computer vision, NLP and GenAI technologies.   

Matthias also leads the team to win the CSA Cyber Innovation Grant Call 2023 after evaluation by industry cyber experts.  The grant was to develop a GenAI Security Copilot and firewall to protect critical IP cameras against malicious Layer 7 attacks.  

As a promising scale-up, Matthias represents cloudsineAI in the prestigious international 2024 Cyberboost Catalyst program run by Plexal (UK) and TIG centre (SG) supported by Cybersecurity Agency of Singapore (CSA) and National University of Singapore (NUS).

2. How to secure AI systems

Matthias also led a team of AI and cyber volunteers to run the 1st AI CTF for global audience in 2021.

Blockcyber Pte Ltd

BlockCyber is an edtech company that empowers both youths and adults with skills in the new digital ABCD (Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cyber/Cloud and Data Analytics).  We have successfully trained a few hundred youths/adults with new cyber skills that they use for CTFs, educational advancements and to find new cyber jobs.  

Blockcyber has also been selected by Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) to deliver the inaugural Singapore Cyber Olympian(SGCO) program to train and nurture 50 top youth cyber talents (aged 18-29) to represent Singapore in international cyber competitions from Jan 2022-Feb 2024.  We are pleased to share our SGCO competition teams were Runner-up and Champions in Cyber SEA Games in 2022 and 2023.   Some of our top players also participated with various international top CTF teams(eg. Blue Water) in DEFCON 2023 Final and performed extremely well in a highly competitive global competition.

My role on the official board of directors is to provide oversight and governance in security, compliance and blockchain.

Cyber Youth Singapore

Cyber Youth Singapore was co-founded as a social enterprise by Ben Chua, Emil Tan, Matthias Chin and Pan Yong to empower youths to safely and responsibly learn technology along with their peers.  CYS has reached out and touched >1000 youths since it started.  In 2021, CYS was converted to a non-profit organization to continue its mission as a charity to empower youths.

Started and led a P&L centre of >$10m annually to provide full fledge cyber security services.  

Led a team of >40 project managers, consultants and security  engineers to provide services in the following areas:

1. Security Consultancy for large turn key projects such as command and control systems and National Authentication Framework.  

2. Security System Integration Services including Firewall, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Antivirus, SIEM and Email Anti-spam and Advance Malware Protection (Fire-eye) 

3. Design, Build, Operations and Maintenance for Security Operations Centre including SOC Design and Architecture, SIEM implementation, Policies, Process and Procedure (PPP) development and SOC training.

Cisco Systems

1. Part of high touch account team covering enterprise and mid-market accounts in Singapore that brings in >US$50million revenue per year 

2. Won the Q3FY10 Top 5 Collaboration SE Sales award 

3. Completed a MBA Strategy project on “How to transform Cisco Systems into a key IT Player in Singapore” with executive sponsor by the MD of Cisco Singapore. 

4. Strong expertise in Telepresence, Video conferencing, Unified Communications, Networking, Security, Wireless LAN, Storage Networking, Cisco Cloud Computing.

Consultant

1. High touch consultant: worked closely with Sales Director to target high touch accounts in government and enterprise sectors. 

2. Technical Leader: built a team of pre-sales consultants including CCIEs to support sales force.

3.Successfully won $12million worth of network projects in 2007. 

4. Solution Architect: Lead Network and Security Towers for HP-led consortium to bid for IDA SOE tender worth $1.5billion.

5. Corporate Entrepreneurship: Successfully pioneered a new business in Digisafe to sell 3rd party security solutions in 2007 and grew the business to >$2million orders within a year 

6. Public speaking: represented Digisafe to present in seminars overseas, eg. in a Digisafe security seminar for government representatives in Hong Kong

Matthias is a serial tech entrepreneur who has built successful innovative companies in cybersecurity and GenAI including cloudsineAI, Blockcyber, and AI Security Quarter (div0 community).  

He has a Honours Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering and is a Certified Internet Expert (CCIE), Cloud and Security Professional (AWS, CISSP, GWAPT, GCFA , GCIH), Blockchain Professional (Oxford Blockchain, Consensys Developer), and trained AI deeplearning specialist (deeplearning.ai).  He has >20 years of years of experience in the Cybersecurity industry and has designed and built large cloud and cyber security systems for government, healthcare and fintech customers.  He has two awarded patents for WebOrion to secure and monitor and restore modern websites from defacement attacks.
